Gonzaga will open play on Friday night at the University of San Sports Information Director Francisco before a Saturday night match at No. 13 Saint Mary’s College. (509) 323-5484 [email protected] HERRERA CONTINUES TO COLLECT DIGS: Junior libero Jessica Chris Loucks Herrera continues to rank among the WCC leaders for digs after posted double- digit performances against both the University of San Diego and Santa Clara Graduate Assistant SID (509) 323-4227 University over the weekend. Herrera has reached double-figures in digs in 22 [email protected] of Gonzaga’s 23 matches this season. She picked up 10 digs against San Diego on Friday night after she had a season low 8 digs earlier this year against the Toreros. Herrera’s season-high for digs is 26 against Portland in a four-game SID FAX loss. Herrera has 324 digs for the season and needs just 13 more over the Bulldogs final six matches to pass Britten Kimbell for 10th place on the (509) 323-5730 Gonzaga single-season list. Linda Bushinski holds the single-season Gonzaga record with 436 digs during the 1986 season. THIRD CAMPAIGN FOR YOSHIMURA: Kip Yoshimura is in his third sea- son as the Bulldogs head coach and continues the rebuilding project of the Gonzaga volleyball program. Yoshimura produced an 8-50 record in his first two years as the Bulldogs head coach with hopes of improving that mark this year with his first true recruiting class in place. His career record is 263-141 during 11 seasons as a head coach including nine seasons at Lewis-Clark State College where he guided the Warriors to nine straight NAIA tournament appear- ances. A 1990 graduate of Long Beach State University, Yoshimura entered the coaching ranks as a student assistant on Long Beach State’s 1989 NCAA National Championship team. He then coached at Weber State before one sea- son as an assistant coach at Gonzaga during the 1992 season.
