Pinus Canariensis (Canary Islands Pine) Canary Islands Pine Is the Largest Old World Pine

Pinus canariensis (Canary Islands Pine) Canary Islands pine is the largest Old World pine. It bears very long needles in bundles of three, blue-green in young plants and bright green in older ones. It produces tiny male cones and large female cones, the latter which harden and open two years later in summer. It only tolerates minimal frost and its horizontal branches break easily in storms. Litter is a constant problem.
