CHINA - Beijing PEKING UNIVERSITY Exchange places 4 Duration One semester (either 1st or 2nd semester) Schools or Departments open to exchange students Exchange students can take Chinese language courses at the PKU School of Chinese as a Second Language and/or English taught undergraduate courses in various Departments. Limitations Students are not allowed to attend classes held within double-degree programmes, graduate/master degree programmes, and classes held at: the Health Science Center, the School of Software and Microelectronics, Faculties with special prerequisites, Tailor-made programmes, and the Shenzhen Graduate School, English-taught graduate courses of special Master programs (MBA, Master in International Relations, Master in Public Policy, LLM in Chinese Law, Yenching Academy). Master’s courses in Chinese are available under faculty’s approval. Language requirements A basic knowledge of the Chinese language, 500 words and linguistic elements in order to be able to communicate effectively both through writing and through speaking in simple, daily life situations, is required. Proof of this knowledge can be provided either through an HSK language certificate of (minimum) level 2 or by sitting a language test at the university’s Language Centre CLA. The dates in which students can sit the Chinese language test at the Language Centre will be published on the web page www.unibo.it/en/overseas. Alternatively, applicants may provide a level 2 HSK certificate. Chinese taught courses are open to exchange students as well, but an HSK language certificate of level 6 with an overall score of at least 1801 is required. Only the selected applicants, if interested in attending English taught courses, need to present a TOEFL iBT language certificate with an overall score of at least 75 or an IELTS (Academic) language certificate with an overall score of at least 6.0 during the application procedure for the host university. When converting this system to our system with ECTS credit units, one needs to take into account that the 25 study hours for 1 ECTS credit unit comprise both lectures and study hours.
