MILES THRELKELD - Miles Threlkeld received his Bachelors of Music Education from Morehead State University, and his Masters of Music Education from Eastern Kentucky University. He spent eleven years as an instrumental music teacher in the Boyle County (Ky), and Fayette County (Ky), School Districts. He has been adjudicating for twenty two years and has judged contests and festivals in twenty states and provinces. Miles has been involved in the drum corps activity as a marching member, instructor, caption head, program coordinator, and judge for 25 years. He has been associated with groups that have made Drum Corps International Finals eleven times. He is a former member of the Bridgemen of Bayonne, NJ and the Pride of Cincinnati. BRYAN CRISP - Bryan Crisp has toured the United States extensively as a soloist and educator. As a member of Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band and a previous member of Tim Zimmerman and the King's Brass, Bryan has had the opportunity to perform as a featured soloist in concert halls in over 38 states. Mr. Crisp is currently Principal Trumpet of the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra and performs regularly with multiple orchestras including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, Dayton Philharmonic and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. Bryan has performed with many New York touring Broadway Series’ as well as performing with many acclaimed artists including Michael W. Smith, Mannheim Steamroller, Three Irish Tenors and the Temptations. As a music educator, Mr. Crisp is currently the Instructor of Trumpet at Mount St. Joseph University and is Founder and Artistic Director of Tri-State Ensembles. Bryan is an active adjudicator for marching and concert band competitions throughout the country and is a member of the Artist Faculty and an Adjudicator with the National Trumpet Competition and International Trumpet Guild. DON DEEMS - Don Deems has taught English at Norwood High School in Cincinnati since 1992. He holds a BA in Speech Communication from Miami University and an MEd in Secondary Education from Wright State University. Performance experience includes the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps and the Pride of Cincinnati Winter Guard. Teaching experience includes the Bluecoats and numerous high school bands and guards throughout the region including Fairborn and Carroll High Schools in Ohio and the state champion Grant County band in Kentucky. He has been a member of the Tri State Judges Association since 1990 serving as chief judge for the past ten years. He has judged state band championships in Indiana, Michigan, Colorado, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arizona, and Kentucky, has judged for WGI and DCA, and has been a judge for Drum Corps International since 2000. MICHAEL PINKSTON - Michael has worked with many different high schools in the Kentucky/Ohio/West Virginia tristate area. After his experience with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010, he have been privileged to work with many successful programs such as the 2011 Bands of America Class A National Champions, Beechwood High School from Ft. Mitchel, KY, and the Tournament of Bands Class A Championships participant, Hurricane High School from Hurricane, WV. Michael has been on the design staff as drill designer for; Lawrence County Marching Band in Louisa, KY (2011 and 2012), Tygarts Valley High School, WV (2014-15), Rowan County High School, KY (2014) and Hurricane High School, WV (2013-15). Starting in 2015, Michael will also be the drill designer for the Mount Saint Joseph University drumline in Cincinnati, OH. In the summer of 2014, Michael was a student in the inaugural class of the Marching Roundtable Judges Academy and was mentored in adjudication by Dr. Joe Allison. KEVIN MILES - Kevin Miles has been an active adjudicator for the past twenty years. Kevin has been an active music/percussion judge for Drum Corps International, Drum Corps Midwest, and Drum Corps East. He has been an independent adjudicator for ISSMA, Oklahoma Bandmasters Association, Michigan Competing Band Association, South Carolina Music Association, and Kansas Bandmasters Association’s to name a few. Kevin is also active in the Indoor Percussion activity, judging for Winter Guard International, Indiana Percussion Association, Gulf Coast Color Guard & Percussion, Rocky Mountain Percussion Association, Louisiana Percussion Association, Tri-State Judges Association, and the Atlantic Indoor Association. As a performer, Kevin regularly performs with: The South Bend Symphony, Anderson Symphony, and Whiting Park Festival Orchestra. Kevin has performed with numerous ensembles and individuals including Manheim Steamroller, Count Basie Orchestra, and Dave Brubeck. BRANDON SPIDEL - Brandon is a Junior High Band Director in Fishers, IN. He has been teaching high school and middle school band since 1998. A graduate of East Noble High School in Kendallville, IN, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Indiana State University where he served as the principal euphonium player in the ISU Wind Ensemble for four years. His teaching experience as a band director has included Clay City Jr./Sr. High School, Owen Valley High School, and Fishers Junior High School. He was also a member of the 1996 Phantom Regiment. Brandon works with several band programs in the state of Indiana and is also very active in the winter guard circuit as an adjudicator. Brandon was a member of the Central State Judges Association from 2008 – 2011. In 2015, he will be judging with Bands of America. He is also a current member of the Mid East Judges Association and the Tri State Judge’s Association. LEE GIBSON - Lee Gibson has been an active designer, instructor and judge in the marching arts for many years. His work crosses the country and can be seen annually at DCI, BOA, WGI as well as numerous state and local events. Lee works as a designer for Dance Sophisticates and serves on the executive board for the Indiana High School Color Guard Association. JOSHUA ELLIS - Josh Ellis is a requested judge and clinician for marching and concert bands across the Midwest. He is currently the band director at Avon Intermediate School East, which is a feeder for the storied Avon High School Band Program. As a part of Avon Schools, he is an assistant with Avon High School’s Marching Black and Gold (3-Time Bands of America Grand National Champion and 11-time Indiana State Champion). Before his time at Avon, his percussion groups in Goshen were a Gold medalist in WGI Concert open and a Silver medalist in World Class. His bands regularly receive Gold ratings at contests and his clarinet students are regularly selected to Indiana All-State Bands. Mr. Ellis specializes in woodwinds and as a clarinet player has performed as a featured soloist on several concerts around the greater Indianapolis area. He is a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. TIM HART - Tim has designed for, consulted with, and taught color guards in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana since 1984 and has been judging color guard and visual captions for high school marching bands since 1987. In addition to being an adjudicator for the TriState Marching Arts and Team Pageantry, he is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Northern Kentucky University, and the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Hart has worked in education since 1989. He currently teaches English at Hilliard Bradley High School in Hilliard, OH. SANDRA BERTELLE - Sandy began her pageantry experience as a colorguard member in her high school band. She went on to receive a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. in Theater from USC, in Los Angeles. She trained with some of the top dance, vocal, and acting teachers in Los Angeles, as well as the renowned John Housmann from the Juilliard School in New York. She has directed and acted in theatrical productions both in the United States and at Scotland’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She also guest starred in several prime time television series. She continues her involvement in pageantry by judging for Drum Corps International, Fall Marching Bands and winterguards around the nation, as well as consulting and instructing for local winterguards. STACEY WASSON MOORE - Stacey Moore is a National Board Certified educator in Winchester, KY. She has received degrees in Environmental Education, Elementary Education, and Instructional Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University. Beginning her pageantry experience performing with the George Rogers Clark Marching Band and later, Star of Indiana's "Brass Theater," she has since instructed and consulted with many fine programs. Stacey was a technician with Phantom Regiment's guard in 2004, and the Color Guard Caption Head for Spirit of Atlanta in 2005-06. She has directed several championship guard programs in Kentucky including Paul Laurence Dunbar and Adair County. She is now a visual program consultant with the 5A Kentucky State Champion Madison Central Marching Band, and serves as an adjudicator in the TriState Marching Arts Circuit and with the Kentucky Music Educators Association. JIM JONES - Jim Jones is in his Seventeenth year as a music educator. The past 3 years he has served as Director of Bands at Bedford North Lawrence High School in Bedford, Indiana. Mr. Jones held the same position for twelve years at Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City, Indiana and North Harrison High School in Ramsey, Indiana. Mr. Jones is a native of Yorktown, Indiana and received his bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and Masters from Walden University. Under Mr. Jones’s direction his ensembles at the Jr. High and High School levels have consistently received gold ratings at ISSMA band festivals and his marching bands have been an ISSMA state finalist, Indiana State Fair finalist and Mid-States Marching finalist. Jim has served as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician for various band festivals. Four times he has been named to the Who’s Who of American High School Teachers and received the Extra Mile Award given by the North Spencer School Corporation.
