As of 10 April, some AUSTRALIA damage and power cuts were reported in the capital Port Vila, as well as loss of 300 communication with some outer islands. NEW About 300 people were evacuated. ZELAND • After having passed Vanuatu, TC COOK RAINFALL started moving south, towards New 10 Apr, 00.00 UTC ACCUMULATION Caledonia, strengthening. It made 157 km/h sust. winds (3-9 Apr: NASA/GPM) landfall near Houailou in the early > 500 mm morning of 10 April (UTC), with max. 400 – 500o mm sustained winds of 160-170 km/h. Then 300 – 400 mm it crossed the center of the island in a CORAL 200 – 300 mm north-south direction, affecting several SEA 100 – 200 mm areas of the island with strong winds, heavy rainfall and storm surge. • The Civil Protection authorities of New o Caledonia have issued an Alert Level 2 o (all movements outside are discouraged) TROPICAL CYCLONE o in most communities of the island and evacuations have taken place since the Observed position o night of 9 April.
