OUR TRIP TO VIZAG AND ARAKKU VALLEY SARVESH CHANDRASEKARAN Class III, Good Earth School It was December Christmas vacations and my family, along with my cousin Vishwa went on trip to Vishkapatnam and Arakku valley. Since I am very fond of trains, my parents ensured that we went to most of the places by Indian railways. Arakku is a beautiful valley of the Eastern Ghats. There is a railway line that runs through these mountains to bring minerals to Vishakapatnam steel plant. We boarded the Coromandel Express, which goes along the east cost of India. We reached Vishakapatnam (short name Vizag) and stayed at the tourist resort in Tyada, which has a beautiful station and is on the way to Arakku valley (130km from Vizag). We proceeded to a very old cave called Bhora cave. In the Oriya language, Bhora means ‘hole’. The visit to the caves was very adventurous. From there, we proceeded to Arakku valley and saw houses built on trees. We saw the tribal museum, coffee, pepper plantations etc. The next day, we went trekking in Tyada. We then took a day's rest and proceeded to Vizag. We visited a submarine museum, Rushikonda beach and other scenic places. The submarine museum gave us a lot of information about the use of submarines to protect or country. We proceeded to Kakinada, a town ship by a two hour train journey from Vizag. We stayed with my aunt and uncle and came back to Chennai by Circar Express. It was a wonderful trip indeed and I learnt about the state of Andhra Pradesh.
