Since 1983, Randy has carried on the family tradition of trucking by working for Southeastern Motor Freight, which his grandfather, Aswell Pitre, founded in 1945. In 1985, Randy helped launch Triple G Express, Inc. and he now oversees, collectively, more than 125 employees and contractors. The two companies haul mostly intermodal containers primarily servicing the Port of New Orleans, but also operate short-haul dry-vans. During his time in trucking, Randy has worked in all aspects of the business, ranging from sales and driving to dock work and safety. Randy is currently the First Vice Chairman of American Trucking Associations, the largest national trade association for the trucking industry. Through a federation of 50 affiliated state trucking associations and industry-related conferences and councils, ATA is the voice of the industry America depends on most to move our nation’s freight. Randy graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a BA in Business Administration. He has been married to his wife Reneé since 1983 and the couple has three grown children and one grandchild. Ernie Goss, Ph.D., economist Creighton University Heider College of Business (SPONSORED BY DVORAK LAW GROUP, LLC) For nearly a decade, strengthening the U.S. economy has been the nation’s #1 priority. Yet few Americans understand how the economy operates, much less how to improve it. Enter Dr. Ernie Goss, prominent professor and regional economist, whose specialty is making economics understandable and relatable—not just to students, business executives, community leaders and policy makers—but to people from all walks of life. Dr. Goss is the director of the Institute for Economic Inquiry and a professor of economics at Creighton University Heider College of Business where he holds the Jack A. MacAllister Chair in Regional Economics. He is also director of The Goss Institute for Economic Research in Denver, Colorado, a bipartisan think tank conducting business and economic research and providing innovative, practical recommendations that affect change and public policy. Dr. Goss is a highly respected, nationally- known expert on the mid-American economy who can articulate how regional economic situations can impact the nation or the world – and vice versa. He is a trusted voice who is often tapped by government and business leaders, economists and the press to shed light on economic issues and trends in terms the average person can understand. He is often a leader in public policy debates, both regionally and nationally. SPEAKERS Jennifer Lancaster, FMCSA Enforcement Specialist, Clearinghouse Regs Clearinghouse regulations require employers to both query and report information regarding CDL drivers who have specified violations of the DOT drug and alcohol testing program incurred by their current and prospective CDL drivers. Jennifer has been with FMCSA since 2004 where she began her career as a special agent. In 2014, she became an enforcement/new entrant program specialist for Midwestern Service Center in Chicago. The Clearinghouse rule requires FMCSA-regulated employers, Medical Review Officers, Substance Abuse Professionals, consortia/third party administrators, and other service agents to report to the Clearinghouse information related to violations of the drug and alcohol regulations in 49 Code of Federal Regulations, parts 40 and 382 by current and prospective employees. The Clearinghouse will also require: - Employers query Clearinghouse for current and prospective employees’ drug and alcohol violations before permitting those employees to operate a commercial motor vehicle on public roads. - Employers will be required to annually query the Clearinghouse for each driver they currently employ.
