Hitguj 1 March 2019 PUNE OCTOBER 2019 VOL.74/7 Dear Friends, During the month of September, we have Feast of Mother Mary, thus we experience Her accompaniment in our life. Hence we come to God to express our gratitude for the gift of Mother Mary as our Mother. To foster the devotion some fast, recite daily Rosary, some make their pilgrimages to various shrines, churches and parishes. Most of our mission stations celebrate their church Feasts -Yatras. It is also harvesting time, so the faithful come to God with their offering to thank God for sustaining them with good harvest and life. The Feast of Mother Mary strengthens the bond of love among the parishioners. The Parish Priest with the collaboration of Sisters, Brothers, parish Council Members and other faithful commit themselves to deepen the love of God through novenas, prayers, rosaries, Bajans and the Eucharistic Celebration. It is time of gratitude to God for His constant accompaniment in our life in providing us, sustaining us with good harvest. God is our source of strength; He blesses and Mother Mary gives us courage to live our life faithfully. We also celebrated Teachers Day in our education institutions, students, parents expressing their gratitude to teachers for empowering them and enhancing their knowledge and skills. For Jesuits, teachers are Formators; they are forming young minds and hearts. A Good Formator is one who takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart to be compassionate to all. Hence, formators need to cultivate the passion of learning through their minds and hearts. They form committed students with confidence to serve the others with passion. The seminar on the New Education Policy for our Principals, Collaborators and Staff was an enriching experience. It was heartening to witness all our education institutions coming together to think, reflect, discuss and understand the New Education Policy (NEP). The NEP has given a new thrust to the education system. The seminar helped us to understand the vision of the education system, drawing from our cultural heritage. It invites teachers to be professional in their commitment and accompany the students from early childhood. We are called to be agents of transformation. Transformation is from within, moulding mind and heart of every child. Teaching is a noble mission; we are collaborators in this shared mission. We need to study NEP in its totality and respond to it appropriately. Education has empowered us to be innovative in our skills and mould our hearts to be persons for the society. Let us integrate value based education in our institutions which will make all compassionate human beings. Integration is a process, students learn from our teaching and from our life. As good formator we are also challenged to live conscious and committed lives. Integrating and implementing Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAP) in our campus will enhance learning. UAP is unfolding our choices of being with nature and nurturing love for our Mother Earth. UAP gives us that experience of integrating holistic formation. Let our Community and Commission meetings help in our deliberation to be prophetic to commit ourselves as St. Ignatius our Founder.
