Donor Relations Officer - Job Description Job Title: Donor Relations Officer Salary: £33,178 - £37,459 per annum Reporting to: Grants, Contracting and Reporting Manager Contract: Full time, Permanent Location: Edinburgh House, 170 Kennington Lane, SE11 5DP Who we are Our vision is a world free of preventable disease, in which everyone everywhere can reach their full potential. We were founded in 2002 with a £20m grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and started life at Imperial College London as the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative. Consistently ranked globally as one of the most cost-effective non-profit initiatives, we have received significant funding since our inception including from the UK Department of International Development, USAID,and philanthropic investors. In 2019 we became an independent organisation, and the SCI Foundation continues to work across multiple sectors in numerous countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to deliver effective and robust health programmesthat have a lasting impact. What we do Working in partnership with Governments, the SCI Foundation supports and facilitates public health programmes that reduce the impact of preventable diseases like schistosomiasis and soil- transmitted helminthiasis. We provide technical and financial support to Ministries of Health, in line with their own strategies and plans, to enhance sustainability and strengthen health systems within countries affected by these diseases. We work to scale up their government-implemented deworming programmes by providing advisory support and conducting research and analysis on the outcomes. To date, our team has supported up to 60% of all global schistosomiasis treatments being delivered annually and we are broadening our reach to coordinate with health programmes for other preventable diseases, as well as supporting disease prevention measures such as water, sanitation and hygiene and the management of the impacts of these diseases on individuals. 1 The Role We are looking for an exceptional person to join our friendly and dynamic team as a Donor Relations Officer to support the SCIF in its next phase and fulfil its exciting new strategy. Reporting to the Grants, Reporting and Contracting Manager, the Donor Relations Officer will support the team with their ambitious fundraising goals. Key Responsibilities • Maintain and update the SCIF database (Raiser’s Edge) ensuring all individual records are accurate and produce monthly reports to monitor fundraising progress • Maintain and build relationships with existing donors • Shape and use common processes that contribute to the accuracy, relevance and quality of the data we hold for communications and fundraising purposes. • Work closely with fundraising and communications colleagues to create a culture of individual donor development, inputting into the donor journey and delivering recruitment initiatives. • Ensure timely and accurate processing, recording and acknowledgement of donations including gift aid and online donations • Ensure that all thank yous are sent out on a timely manner in line with SCIF fundraising policies • Ensure that the donations platforms are correctly updated and analyse services provided by these platforms • Develop and analyse donor data to support fundraising; identify trends in giving; ability to produce different reports, segment donors and strategise based on findings • Ensure supporter preferences are accurately recorded, including Gift Aid declarations, mailing preferences and suppressions • Filing Gift Aid claims • To carry out other adhoc administrative duties within the team This is a description of the job as it is presently constituted. Personal specification Essential knowledge, experience and qualifications • Graduate or equivalent qualification 2 • Demonstrated 3 years minimum experience of working with a customer relationship management system or donor management services such as Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge NXT or similar • Demonstrated experience of consolidating information in a clear, accurate and comprehensive way. • Demonstrated experience of individual donor recruitment campaigns and individual donor stewardship. • Thorough understanding of dara protection, GDPR, PECR and confidentiality of handling donor data. • Sound knowledge fundraising regulations • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, SharePoint) Essential skills and abilities • Highly strategic with the ability to analyse, interpret and use data to plan for the future • Proven time management skills of working to deadlines, including evidence of excellent planning, organisational skills, ability to prioritise and multi-tasking • Ability to work unsupervised and work proactively using own initiative Ability to translate opportunities into practical plans of action • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, both prescribed and self-imposed, while maintaining a high level of accuracy • Ability to work constructively and effectively within a team, able to work well with others towards a shared goal • Ability to maintain confidentiality Desirable knowledge, skills and experience • Language ability in French or other major global language, both written and spoken. • Experience of working in the global health or international development sector and ensuring compliance with International donors’ requirements.
