Sir,—"Motorist," writing in your issue of May 29, contends the only route worth consideration is the Swanson-West Coast Road." That may be so, but to the many motorists who would prefer to follow the concrete road to its terminus, thence travel via Lincoln Road, now being reformed, and thence via Red Hill Road through Taupaki, to the proposed shorter route, starting from Mr. A. F. Annandale's "Motorist's" contention will lack conviction. Quite apart from the above, and what is more important in my opinion, the route which is likely to afford the greatest facility to settlers is the one worthy of most consideration. As most of the Muriwai settlers were signatories to the petition recently presented to the Prime Minister, they should be the best judges of the route most likely to benefit them. H. S. Brakenbridge.
