If you do, then you may see Lent as a me when you can focus on Bell - ringing Practice Sibbertoft 2nd & 4th Mondays at 7.30pm Matins Welford Wednesday at 9.30am your relaonship with God – reflecng on what it means to you, and how it is Matins Marston Trussell Every 1st Tuesday at 10.00am maturing and growing. For me, certainly, I hope that by Easter Day I will have Holy Communion at Sibbertoft Manor Every 1st Wednesday at 11 am Mothers Union Corporate Communion Welford First Wednesday every month at 10.00am walked that bit more closely with God; that I will know him that lile bit beer; learnt from him that lile bit more; and, most importantly, been changed by him – even if not as much as I need. How do I plan to help this happen? Obviously, I need to think first about what PSALMS AND READINGS makes a relaonship flourish and grow - and go from there. Sunday 1st March Psalm 61 So where do I start? Well, in order for there to be a relaonship at all, there has to 1st Genesis 2, 15 to 17 and 3, 1 to 7 be knowledge that the “ other ” is there. In order for us to fall in love with someone, 2nd Romans 5, 12 to 19 Gospel Matthew 4, 1 to 11 perhaps a future husband or wife, we need to know they exist, need to meet them Sunday 8th March and then, crucially, need to communicate with them honestly and oen. This, I Psalm 121 believe, is how relaonships flourish and grow: with authenc and regular commu- 1st Genesis 12, 1 to 4 nicaon. 2nd Romans 4, 1 to 5 and 13 to 17 Gospel John 3, 1 to 17 So when we think of our relaonship with God – however doubt - ridden it may be - Sunday 15th March it might be worth thinking first of how we communicate with him, and he with Psalm 95 us.And, as with any relaonship, there is a myriad number of ways in which this 1st Exodus 17, 1 to 7 communicaon takes place: we can see, hear and feel God through his creaon - in 2nd Romans 5, 1 to 11 majesc mountain and rolling plain; in crashing wave and trickling stream; in warm Gospel John 4, 5 to 42 sun, and freezing rain; and in those we love, their words, gestures, touch. In fact, Sunday 22nd March Psalm 122 God speaks to us wherever and whenever we seek him, and even when we don ’ t. 1st 1 Samuel 16, 1 to 13 2nd Ephesians 5, 8 to 14 But do we always noce and, when we do, do we always recognise what it is he is Gospel John 9 revealing to us? Quite probably not – so let ’ s try and listen a bit more this Lent, to spend more me paying aenon, tuning in to God. When we do that, we call it prayer. And if you ’ re not sure when or how to pray - well, whenever we are alert and responsive to the conversaon God is trying to have with us, that is prayer. Mothers Union The next Mothers Union Corporate Communion will be held in Rev. Miranda Page 3 Welford Church at 10.00am on Wednesday 4th March New Benefice Service Schedule: Following our Vision Building exercise as we seek to discern God ’ s will for his church, we will be introducing a new service Schedule after Easter which we feel reflects our shared understanding. We hope there will be a real sense of togetherness at all our services and that we will find a service on each Sunday which meets our needs. The most important thing is that our parishes feel supported and upheld by our presence, and that we are, indeed, a blessing to our communities – not just praying for them on a Sunday but serving them day by day. Take the right path. As you will see from the schedule, one of the main developments is the new monthly Benefice Service at 10am on the fourth Sunday of each Success in public life brings all kinds of temptations month. It will rotate alphabetically round the parishes, beginning with Clipston on 26 th April. that are hard to resist.
