Last Saturday our team started its inaugural campaign with an impressive away performance against Kingborough, and despite falling short of victory, the team gained a lot of confidence that we could compete at CTPL level. We look forward to stepping out on one of our home grounds today. The Greater Northern Raiders would like to thank today’s catering hosts South Launceston Cricket Club, and our venue partners Cricket North. The purpose of this team is to provide North and North West cricketers with the choice and ability to play in Tasmania’s premier cricket competition without having to leave home. In the case of young players, it means they can complete their education and seek employment locally, while still being able to press for a coveted Tasmanian Tigers and/or Hobart Hurricanes contract. With a strong coaching and leadership group led by Tim Coyle and Andrew Gower, we look forward to the day when a Raiders player dons the Tigers and Hurricanes colours, and hopefully a baggy green! A lot of time and effort has gone into getting the team on the ground, and I thank the Raiders Management Committee for their work behind the scenes. We would also like to thank our clubs and councils throughout the Greater North who been willing partners in this new, exciting endeavour.
