It is important that any damage that occurred in transport is detected at the time of unpacking. If you do find such damage, the carrier must be notified immediately. MAINTENANCE & SERVICING The homogenizer should be given the care normally required for any electrical appliance. Avoid wetting or unnecessary exposure to fumes. The finish can be washed with water and soap or detergents, using a cloth or sponge. Do not allow water to get inside the unit. Allow to dry before using. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS ƽ Never attempt to hold the lower end of the generator while the generator is attached to the motor. ƽ Over tightening the rotor knife onto the rotor shaft can result in breaking the shaft and/or distortion of the rotor knife. ƽ Any servicing of the homogenizer motor unit, except brush replacement, should be performed by an authorized service representative. ƽ Use of any accessories or attachments other than those supplied by the manufacturer may be hazardous. The motor unit is supplied with sealed ball bearings and requires no additional lubrication. Any additional lubrication to the motor can result ƽ in bearing and/or motor failure. Tool kit (includes: safety clip, multi-wrench, 1/4” hex key, screwdriver) Support base OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES Description AHS 200 stand only 3 INTRODUCTION The PowerMax AHS 200 Homogenizer is a high-speed dispersing and emulsifying apparatus for processing flowable or liquid media. The AHS 200 is available in either 120v or 220v with a variable speed range from 5,000 to 35,000 rpm. The AHS 200 stand assembly consists of a support base with a matted surface plate, a 24” support rod, and a motor support bracket which holds the motor unit as well as allowing for a 3” up and down movement of the motor unit independent of the support rod. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Assembly of the motor unit and stand a. Insert the 24” long support rod (the cord holder end upward) into the hole located at the back of the base and tighten the 3/8” hex bolt. b. Loosen the locking knob on the motor support bracket and slide the motor support bracket down over the end of the support rod. c. Lock the motor support bracket in place by tightening the locking knob. d. Loosen the locking screw located on the front of the motor support bracket. e. Insert the motor unit into the bracket and tighten the locking screw. f. Insert the power cord into the cord holder located in the top of the support rod. g. Check that the voltage quoted on the motor unit's type plate agrees with the available main voltage. Variations of +/- 10% are permissible. 2. After all of the above assembly operations have been completed and the electrical connections checked, a test run of the motor unit can be made. Do not use any generators at this time. 3. Turn the On/Off switch to the On position. 4. The speed is controlled by the slide switch on the face of the motor unit. Tool kit (includes: safety clip, multi-wrench, 1/4” hex key, screwdriver) OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES Description External speed control AHS 250 stand only Ultra clamp Chain clamp, vessel harness Chain clamp holder 5 INTRODUCTION The PowerMax AHS 250 Homogenizer is designed to homogenize, emulsify, blend and mix organic and inorganic materials in a liquid/liquid, liquid/solid, or solid/solid state. The motor and speed control have been combined to form an integral unit known as the AHS 250. The AHS 250 features a variable speed range from 10,000 to 30,000 rpm. Support stand includes a 24” (61cm) vertical support rod and U-shaped support base. Cast aluminum, heavy duty clamp secures motor unit to stand. (Stand and clamp are sold separately.) OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Assembly of the motor unit and stand a. Screw the cross rod assembly into the threaded hole located in the back of the motor. b. Once the cross rod is threaded into the rear of the motor tighten the jam nut locking the cross rod in place. c. Insert the 24” support rod into the 1” diameter hole in the back leg of the base and tighten the locking screw and nut. d. Slide the post clamp down the support rod and lock in place. e. Insert the cross rod and motor assembly into the post clamp. f. Check that the voltage noted on the back of the motor agrees with the available voltage. Variations of +/- 10% are permissible. g. Insert the male end of the power cord into the proper voltage outlet. h. Push the motor switch on the front of the housing downward to turn the motor "on". Pulling outward on the switch once it is all the way down will lock the motor unit on. Just pushing down on the switch and releasing it will pulse the motor. To stop the motor, release the motor switch and it will return to the "off" position. 2. After all of the above assembly operations have been completed and the electrical connections checked, a test run on the motor unit can be made. Do not use any attachments at this time. CAUTION: Running a generator or chamber assembly without liquid media can cause damage to the bearings, unless the lower bearing of the generator has been replaced with a sealed and shielded stainless steel bearing. 3. The speed is controlled by the slide wheel located on the top of the motor unit.
