LSU never trailed in the contest as the Tigers led 2-0 after the first quarter and 16-0 at halftime following a 3-yard TD pass from JaMarcus Russell to Craig Davis and a 1-yard run by Joseph Addai. LSU stretched the lead to 23-0 midway through the third quarter when Russell connected with Early Doucet for a Arkansas (4-6, 2-5 SEC) 20-yard TD pass. Justin Vincent added a 1-yard TD run to open the fourth quarter to increase the lead to 33-0. Matt Flynn hit Bennie Brazell with a 55-yard TD pass to cap the scoring for LSU. Ole Miss spoiled the shutout with a TD at the 2:28 SEPTEMBER mark in the fourth quarter.
