MEM45 9/10 WISCONSIN ASSOCIATION OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN LAWYERS Letter from the BOARD OF DIRECTORS Dear Friends: It is with great enthusiasm that we unveil this directory of the Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers (WAAL), highlighting our current and former members and supporters. We strongly believe the future of Wisconsin’s legal community requires utilization of talent from all corners of our society. It is our most sincere hope that this directory goes a little way in continuing our state’s great momentum toward diversity and inclusion. These past years have been filled with many accomplishments and illustrations of WAAL’s leadership and dedication to the community. For example, in October of 2010, WAAL partnered with Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C., Gonzalez, Saggio & Harlan, LLP, Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLP and the Milwaukee Bar Association to bring to town the nationally renowned Diversity Dialogue, a best practices workshop for legal professionals providing tangible guidance on how to align one's law firm to obtain outside counsel projects. Collaborations with bar associations on judicial forums and continuing legal education programs, mentorship initiatives with Wisconsin law students and organization of and participation in career fairs for Milwaukee-area high school students are just a few more examples of WAAL’s commitment to the community and diversity in the bar. With the help of enthusiastic and committed young lawyers and our website, www.waalweb.com, WAAL has made great advances in reaching out to its members and friends, increasing our membership and in promoting opportunities and the benefits of diversity in the legal profession. Although we continue to be encouraged by our associations and partnerships, our hope is that the members and friends listed in this directory, and especially our readers, will assist WAAL’s efforts to increase professional opportunities for and reliance on diverse attorneys to provide legal services and solutions for clients in a multitude of areas. www.waalweb.com— 1 WISCONSIN ASSOCIATION OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN LAWYERS Background HISTORY of WAAL Formerly known as the Wisconsin Association of Minority Attorneys (WAMA), WAAL was established in 1988 and is involved in community affairs throughout Milwaukee.
