Kiawah Island ● Kiawah Island is a barrier island with a maritime forest that has a rich maritime habitat and 10 miles of beach. ● This island is located in South Carolina and is 26 miles south of Charleston. ● It is a private beach but there are hotels open to tourists who travel to the area. ● The island’s 10-mile stretch of beach ranks among the best in the world, earning numerous awards and honors including top 10 beaches in America. ● The island's beach and coastal waters are the natural habitat for many other marine and land animals, including Bottlenose Dolphins, Loggerhead Sea Turtles and more. Some of these include Duck, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Kitty Hawk and Hatteras. Or maybe you traveled to the Southern Shores, Manteo, Wanchese, Rodanthe, Buxton, or Avon. ● Home to the Wilbur and Orville Wright Memorial and giant sand dunes. It is one of the Sea Islands and one of the Golden Isles of Georgia barrier islands. ● There is 10 miles of grand, unspoiled shoreline and a variety of amenities. ● Best known for their natural bounty, each of Jekyll Island’s beaches is completely different than the other. From bird watching on St. Andrews to photo ops on Driftwood Beach, these sun-drenched sanctuaries offer a truly invigorating experience. High rise development is not allowed, beautification is encouraged, and conservation of the island environment is a top priority.
