2021 ARTIST STUDIO CALLOUT CLOTHING STORE - CARRIAGEWORKS The Clothing Store Artist Studio Program provides subsidised space to support artists to undertake ambitious projects, sustain their practice and work collaboratively with Carriageworks. CLOTHING STORE ARTIST STUDIO PROGRAM The Clothing Store Artist Studios provide an annual residency for artists working at the forefront of contemporary practice and across a range of disciplines. In 2021 Carriageworks is providing 9 subsidised artist studios for a period of up to 12 months. Studios dedicated to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are supported through partnerships with Bloomberg and with Solid Ground, an initiative of Carriageworks and Blacktown Arts that provides education, training and employment pathways for Indigenous Australian youth. Solid Ground is supported by the Australian Government through the National Indigenous Australians Agency, the Crown Resorts Foundation and Packer Family Foundation. In exchange for this support, studio artists will participate in an open studio day organised by Carriageworks in 2021. For the period of the Artist Studio Program, artists will be provided access to the Carriageworks Artistic Program including: -Complimentary tickets to Carriageworks shows -Access to visiting curators -Invitations to opening night events and VIP functions -Access to Carriageworks education and professional development programs APPLICATION PROCESS Applications of no more than 2 pages will include the following information: -A statement that details the expected outcomes of the proposed studio at Carriageworks and how the residency will assist you in the development of your practice -Short biography that includes your 2021 commitments -Up to 5 digital images of your work and/or video links -Please email your application to [email protected] APPLICATION TIMELINE Applications due Sunday, 15 November 2020 Artists announced Monday, 25 November 2020 Artist Studio Program commences January 2021 STUDIOS Studio size 6m x 9m No. of studios available 9 Studio location Clothing Store, Level 1 245 Wilson Street, Eveleigh Monthly fee $355 (invoiced per month inc. facilities) Facilities Shared kitchen, power, communal area, WIFI ABOUT THE CLOTHING STORE ARTIST STUDIO PROGRAM Built in 1913, the Clothing Store is part of the historic Eveleigh Railway Workshops that includes Carriageworks and South Eveleigh. Carriageworks established the Clothing Store Artist Studio Program in partnership with UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation in 2017.
