He began golfing at the age of six, under the instruction of his father, Jim Sr., a professional of 38 years. Since the family lived on the property of a country club, it was easy for Jim and his siblings to take up the game and become devoted to it at an early age. His younger siblings, Jeff and Jackie, have also proven themselves to be talented professional golfers. With five PGA Tour Victories, Jim Gallagher, Jr. has certainly enjoyed his career on the PGA Tour since turning professional following his college graduation. His first of five PGA Tour wins came in 1990 at the Greater Milwaukee Open. In 1993, Gallagher was a two-time winner with victories at the Anheuser-Busch Golf Classic and The TOUR Championship. In 1995, he duplicated that performance with two wins at the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro and the FedEx St. Jude Classic. Both of these victorious years took Jim beyond the million-dollar mark in winnings. Gallagher’s playing resume also boasts participation on the 1993 Ryder Cup team, where he defeated European Seve Ballesteros 3 and 2 to seal the United States victory at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England. Gallagher was also a member of the inaugural 1994 President’s Cup team, and recorded a 3-1 mark. In 2004, Jim will continue to play on the PGA Tour and will return to the broadcast booth as a golf analyst for USA Network. The remainder of his time is spent at home in Greenwood, Mississippi where Jim lives with his wife Cissye and their four children. .
