With the induction of Alison and Keiron Letts we became a club of 53 (photos top right next page). THURSDAY 19 MARCH We now have three married couples in the Club. Once again, we had over 50 attend the meeting. On Friday we had the formal handover of the $40,000 Cheque to Edward Tudor, the Executive Director of the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School with representatives of the Clubs involved and Alma Reynolds DGE there on behalf of the District (photos bottom of next page). The new girl’s alumni Boarding facility was most impres- sive as was the furniture we partly funded. Rotary was fulsomely thanked for this and earlier contributions to helping MITS operate. Sadly, we learnt that the 22 MITS students were all going home on Monday 16th March for an early holiday because of the coronavirus. No club meetings in March. ROTARY CLUB OF BEAUMARIS BULLETIN– SERVING THE COMM UNITY SINCE 1985 2. We have 3 Club meetings in April, and these are wait and see at the moment. We obviously need VGC to be open. 3. We will not run Rotary farmers markets and will review the situation for May nearer the time. 4. We will postpone the Men's Health Day and the Presi- dent's Fundraiser. 5. Club Treasure Hunt - Wait and see. 6. Charity Golf Day 25th May - wait and see. What is not mentioned is the club Bushfire Recovery Trip to East Gippsland 15th to 18th May. This is another wait and see event. 39 Club members and partners are still going to Echuca as we are booked into accommodation etc. Heather Chisholm, in her usual fashion, is working hard producing alternative and safe activities for us all. I know a number of other clubs are doing the same. This all means Echuca will not miss out entirely as we will be up there spending money. These are difficult times and Adrian Culshaw asked me is there anything Rotary should be doing? I welcome your thoughts. Please send them to David Lea for the next edition of In Gear. We will continue to circulate In Gear each week as to keep members informed and to maintain a record of the Club’s activi- ties during these challenging times. Our Next meeting may be on April 2 at VGC with Liz Tanzimat giving a New Member talk.
