He has also worked as a fashion and music photographer for over thirty years, and at time of writing he had a website in his own name here, which featured shots of ACDC, who contributed a few songs to the film. Stead's Soundcloud, here, provides this handy short biography: I'm a Musician/Songwriter/Composer/Singer. My first band was 'Lloyd's World' in Sydney in the 1960's. We recorded 2 singles of my songs. 'Pinky Lamour' -'Goodbye Goodbye' 'Brass Bird' - 'Dandelion Wine' [Festival Records] In 1970 I formed 'Sweet Wine' a duo with singer Philip White. We recorded a single with 2 of my songs. 'Summer's Gone' -'If I could have you back' [EMI records] In 1976 joined Australian band 'Buffalo' Recorded 2 of my songs. 'Rollin' -'Hotel Ladies' [Polygram Records] In 1980 released a single in my own name. 2 songs. 'Wheels of Love' -'Panic in the City' [Result Records] In the 1980's composed the music scores for Film and Television. FEATURE FILMS 'Fighting Back' 'Melvin, Son of Alvin' 'BMX Bandits' TELE MOVIE 'Stock Squad' MINI SERIES 'The Last Bastion' DOCO'S 'The Horse that Built a Nation' 'Dream Chasers' The songs I am uploading to Soundcloud are all demo's some old some new. ALL songs are published through 'Albert's Publishing World Wide' At time of writing, no material had been uploaded. The soundtrack for the film didn't reach an LP or 45, but here's the cover for Stead's 45 which was released in 1980, and below that images of an older Stead: There is a title song which runs over head and tail credits, written by Stead, performed by Lori Balmer. It returns for a repeat performance over the tail credits. Lyrics for the song as it runs over the head credits: The boy was born in 1966 He sure stood out from all the other kids The nurses they went very weak at the knees ooh ooh Melvin The son of Alvin They didnʼt tell him ʼbout his real Dad Could not explain about the magic he had The women couldnʼt leave the boy alone ooh ooh Melvin (spoken) Mothers, behave yourselves The son of Alvin Every day heʼs on the run From all these girls who want some fun Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can When they see him walking down the street Every girl would fall at his feet Heʼd run and hide when they said sex Melvin, the son of Alvin One day he might meet a girl Whoʼll come along and take him out of his shell Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can <guitar solo> Every day heʼs on the run From all these girls who want some fun Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can <synth riff, teacher dialogue, as Melvin tries to hide a bottle of urine from his teacher, which she then confiscates from him and drinks: Teacher: Melvin Simpson (gesturing for him to hand over the bottle of urine) How thoughtful of you, spending all your pocket money on a drink for me. (she gets a straw out of her desk drawer). Cheers … (the class titters in shock and the teacher reels and goes one-eyed while Melvin faints, as the song continues)> Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can Melvin, the son of Alvin They gonna catch him if they can ... Song interrupts for “Jaws” 'threatening boob swimming' musical joke in swimming pool sequence, returns to song for brief instrumental refrain before fading out over footage of Melvin and other students leaving the school graduation ball ... An LP of the film's music was released, but it had few tracks, and is now very rare. According to one database site, here, it was released on 1st October 1984. LP EMI BUG-240262 1984 SIDE 1: 1.
