Board of Directors The King’s Daughters are the founders of Children’s Hospital 2009-2010 of The King’s Daughters. Members also chair and serve on The King’s Daughters’ major fundraising projects throughout the year. A Board of Directors which governs the organization is elected annually by the membership and is supported by a dedicated staff. KD Connect Meetings Our KD Connect meetings promote communication between The King’s Daughters Office Circles, staff and CHKD. The Circle Accomplishments King’s Daughters’ administrative staff is a highly motivated and organized team. Circle projects and revenues again reached an all time high. $326,000 was donated by circles this year. 24,014 pieces of linens, knitted items, sewn items, CHKD Endowment and Capital Campaign Completion and gifts were donated. The King’s Daughters were proud to announce the completion of a five-year $1 million pledge to CHKD’s Endowment 54,960 volunteer hours were contributed. Adult Leaders and Treasurers attended Campaign to two vital programs; Nursing Scholarships and the CHKD Child Abuse Center. We were equally proud orientation and training sessions in Norfolk and Hampton in September. to announce that we accomplished this with 100% participation from our Circles. Circle members continue to arrange tours and meetings within the hospital, inspiring renewed interest, excitement and enthusiasm for CHKD. The King’s Daughters pledged $250,000 to the CHKD Viriginia Beach Health and Surgery Center. The King’s Daughters, as well as many of our sponsors and supporters are all prominently recognized in the lobby of CHKD Junior Circles Norfolk as part of the new recognition wall. Junior Circles continue to excel in providing Adult Circles with energetic volunteers. All junior leaders and treasurers attended a training and orientation meeting in September to help them organize for the year. 2 3 Major Projects The King’s Daughters’ 2009-10 Major Projects consisted of the Holly Festival of Canisters Trees, Holly Ball, Tour de Cuisine, and the RunWalk for the Kids. The King’s Daughters, with the generous help of local merchants and our own CHKD Thrift Stores, raised an incredible $240,000 from canister donations this year.
