The Christmas Celebration Concert 15th December 2009, 7.00pm The Auditorium Dewan Sivik Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya Petaling Jaya Jointly organised by: All Petaling Jaya Residents Association Coalition (APAC) Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) Councillors of MBPJ Patrick Leong has been involved in the music industry since 1997, performing as a backing vocalist for local and international singers including Siti Nurhaliza, Sheila Majid, Wang Lee Hom, Kris Dayanti and many more. In 2007, he opened Pavarotti’s Concert for the Asian Global Leadership Forum held at Pangkor Laut. Patrick’s music is inspired by the intimacy of Worship unto the Lord and to date, he has recorded three albums. In 2008, Patrick Leong was invited to perform at the “Youth for Healthy Hearts Gospel Concert” in Atlanta, USA, raising awareness for heart-related diseases and raising funds for deserving youths for scholarship funding. Sharing the platform with top renowned Gospel Grammy Award Artists from America, the concert was a huge success in both turn-out and support. Juwita Suwito’s journey in the professional music scene began in her late teens as backing vocalist for leading Malaysian artistes at gigs, mega concerts and prominent award shows. She soon developed her versatility and was often called to record song demos for East Asian publishing houses. In unexpected turns of events, some of these demos were regionally released and caught the attention of many curious listeners. One example is her moving rendition of “Breathe Again” published by Warner Music Taiwan in the original soundtrack for Mandarin TV drama series “The Outsiders”. To no surprise, Juwita’s solo debut album, “Brand New World”, was awarded “Best Local English Album” at the prestigious AIM Awards in 2005. While her other album ‘For Real’ was nominated as well in 2007. Also recently announced, Juwita’s Live EP “Take Five with Juwita Suwito at Avanti” has been nominated for “Best Local English Album”. Her debut album ‘Gemilang’ sold more than 20,000 copies nationwide since its launch, winning her multiple top-notch awards including the prestigious “Best Pop Album” & “Album of the Year” awards in Anugerah Industri Muzik 2005. Her 2nd album ‘Inilah Jac’ launched in 2006 further reaffirmed Jac’s capability of powerful vocal performance and uplifted her status in the industry as a ‘powerhouse’ entertainer, winning her the “Best Female Vocal Performance in an Album” award in the Anugerah Industri Muzik 2006 & awarded as the IKON of Malaysia in 2007. She has been voted Anugerah Bintang Popular every year since 2005. In 2007, Jaclyn sang on Jubilee, a Compilation Christian Album released by AION Music. Apart from singing, Jaclyn also recently starred in Yasmin Ahmad’s “Talentime”, currently being screened at cinemas. Having performed for dignitaries and VIPs at a variety of events around the world, Joanne is a much sought after violinist. Joanne has performed alongside HK artistes such as Jacky Cheung, Alan Tam and David Tao in their concert tours worldwide and has since launched her own solo album in 2005. Among the awards given in recognition of her achievements are The Outstanding Young Malaysian Award in 2004 and Martell’s Rising Personality Award 2008. Joanne currently lectures at University Putra Malaysia and sits in the panel of music examiners for the esteemed Trinity Guildhall London Examination Board. For more information, visit http://www.joanneyeoh. com.my Founded in 1958, the Philharmonic Society of Selangor, affectionately known as “The Phil”, is one of the oldest and most established music societies in Malaysia. Enshrined in the Constitution and Rules of the Society are the aims of encouraging the arts and distributing profits to charitable causes. The Phil’s first musical production was Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Mikado” at the British Council in 1958. Since then, they have produced many musical productions, and donated thousands of dollars to various charitable organizations. Among The Phil’s well-known productions are musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Guys & Dolls, The King & I and The Sound of Music. They have also presented classical offerings such as Rutter’s Requiem, Haydn’s Creation and Orff’s Carmina Burana and demonstrated its diverse repertoire by showcasing contemporary and Broadway offerings in musical productions and revues such as Heart & Soul Charity Concert, Music from Movies & Musicals 2 and In the Mood which played to packed halls and received enthusiastic response and encouraging reviews. The Choir is a regular community activity of the Society and regularly performs at community and corporate events in addition to producing its own shows.
