I believe that it was not delivered to our property. I am curious as to why were not on the list prior to September 29, 2009. We have lived at this address since 1998, are the original purchasers and will be directly affected by both the site and track location. It would have been Thank you for your letter of February 15, 2010 opposing the construction of a connecting track along Leslie Street, between Lakeshore nice to have had a say in the site selection process. I find it hard to believe that for a project of this magnitude, and impact, that there was Blvd East and Queen Street East. This track would be used by the new Light Rail Vehicles to access the Maintenance and Storage Facility only one opportunity for public input (Re: June presentations). The process seemed a little rushed through. I have worked on much at Lakeshore Blvd East and Leslie Street. smaller, less impacting projects w/the city (currently 8th Street Park) where we have completed 2 public open houses, and 3 design committee workshop/presentations. In your letter you identify a number of concerns arising from the construction and future operation of the facility. Having that said, however, I do look forward to your continued effort to make this process a public one, and keep me posted on any As you may be aware, this section of Leslie Street is classified as a High Order Transit Corridor in the City of Toronto Official Plan (2002). upcoming reviews, inquiries, presentations, etc. It is also the most direct route to the revenue line which is a critical element in delivering a timely and cost effective transit service. I want to assure you that the concerns raised in your letter, including, increased noise and vibration, disruption from construction of the tracks and traffic congestion will be mitigated to meet or surpass local and provincial requirements, regardless of which route is ultimately selected. In light of heightened community concerns, we will explore alternate routes in more detail to ensure that all feasible options have been considered and evaluated. Once this review is complete, the results will be shared with the community. I wish also to point out that, although the City of Toronto has purchased 204 new low floor Light Rail Vehicles, only 100 of them will actually be stored at the Ashbridges site. Of these, 85 will be brought into regular service each morning between 5:00 am and 7:00 am. The balance of the vehicles will be stored at Russell Yard and the Roncesvalles Yard. I appreciate your interest and comments on this transit initiative. I have included your contact information in our database to ensure you are kept abreast of new developments and information as it becomes available. 11 19-Feb-10 Agency - Toronto Please include/add my name as contact for the above project. Thank you again for sharing your image. 13 Public I was wondering if you could add me to the project mailing list, so that I can keep up on the releases. Added to the database. 14 22-Feb-10 Public Do you have any information on how the TTC is planning to remove the contaminated soil from the site? I understand it will be a large undertaking. Response sent March 15 2010 Thank you for your e-mail regarding the Ashbridges Bay Maintenance and Storage Facility. I'm looking forward to playing with xx in our backyard this summer (his first) and I want to make sure he'll be safe. I appreciate your concerns related to the removal of contaminated soil from the subject site. The successful contractor will be responsible How will the TTC make sure that soil doesn't spread around the neighbourhood when it's disturbed? Also what route are you planning to for securing a Certificate of Approval from the Ministry of the Environment prior to removing any soil. use to truck it out of the neighbourhood? Not up Leslie, I hope. A truck route for the soil removal has not been established, however the TTC would seek to work with the contractor and the community to Also, is their someone who can explain the proposed track option with the exclusive LRV lane (page 18)? The drawing in the presentation establish a route that is both feasible and minimizes impact to the neighbourhood. is very small, not very clear and not fully explained. I have documented your remaining comments as you requested and forwarded them to our project team for review and consideration. I'd like to have it added to the record that I only have access to my house from Leslie Street. There is a lane behind my house but the spot that originally belonged to my house was sold off by a previous owner. We also rely on street parking - if it's taken away, we will have no place to put our car or for our visitors to park, and this will cause a further depreciation in the value of our home. 29 TAB-2010-09-16-Comments Tracking Table -60118979-111853.Docx 1 Ashbridges Bay Light Rail Vehicle Maintenance and Storage Facility Comments Tracking Table Stakeholder ID # Date Type Comments Response I also have a couple more points about the presentation. Slide 9 features my house twice - as being both south and north of Leslie. By only showing our four house stretch, you're not properly representing the density north of Eastern. There is a row of very nice, newer townhomes north of Eastern that should be depicted along with Marigold Gardens. There is a also a social housing complex on the northwest corner of Queen and Eastern. The pictures that were selected make it more like more of a commercial area (and less residential) than it is. Page 10 shows a picture of the traffic at Leslie and Eastern that is dated Dec. 30, 2009, during the holiday break - a time at which traffic is lighter throughout the city as many people are off work. The photo does not properly represent the traffic congestion that is usually present at this intersection. If the TTC is going to pursue Leslie Street as its main consideration for the track, I want you to represent it fairly. Mention that there are over 100 homeowners and 300 residents that live on or near Leslie Street, along with a senior citzen home at the northeast corner of Queen and Leslie. 15 22-Feb-10 Public Questions regarding the relationship between Toronto's Official Plan and Leslie Street (as a transit corridor), how comments from open Details on Toronto's official plan identifying Leslie Street as a Transit Corridor. house will be captured and incorporated into plan.
