Young and the African American Museum for a press conference welcoming the 28th Annual Texas Black Invitational Rodeo back to Dallas! The announcement will be held at Dallas City Hall (Flag Room) on Wednesday, June 1st at 12:00 noon. A special drawing will be held during the press conference for four complimentary tickets for admission. “Cowboys are strong figures represented in Texas tradition and although not highly publicized, African-American cowboys have made great contributions to Texas and the West,” said Councilwoman Young. “The Texas Black Invitational Rodeo is a highly anticipated community event that honors this rich heritage and I am grateful to be a part of it.” The Texas Black Invitational Rodeo has been a favorite pastime of families for decades. This year’s festivities will kick off on Friday, June 17th with the Hoedown at the African American Museum of Dallas. The party will feature delectable food, live music and dancing. The rodeo will be held at the State Fair Coliseum in Fair Park on Saturday, June 18th at 7:00 p.m. Cowboys from across the nation will showcase their talents by performing phenomenal feats of skill to include steer wrestling, wild bull riding, ladies barrel racing, a pony express relay race and much more. Tickets to the rodeo can be purchased at the African American Museum or at www.aamdallas.ticketleap.com.
