We reserve a bit of every Squerryes vintage produced for you to try, but we don't produce still wines (because we only back ourselves to make world class sparkling wines on our terroir). The still wine list showcases our convictions about what good wine should be; wine made with passion, in exceptional terroir by great people - many of whom we are proud to call our friends and colleagues. This recently updated wine list is the culmination of many hours of discussion and argument between us both and rather a lot of additions and revisions. We set out to make this list as short as possible (who wants a tome of a list?) and to distil it into wines which we are happy to put our names to – we’re still delighted to put our names to these wines, but have added a few. Whether you go for an old favourite or march into territories new, a light white or a blockbuster red, we hope you will enjoy whatever you choose as much as we do”. Henry Warde, owner of Squerryes Laura Evans, Master of Wine Squerryes (Vg | V) On the 2,500 acre Squerryes estate, high on the North Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, sits our chalk-rich vineyard. At 150 metres above sea-level we are 1 degree Celsius cooler than other vineyards in the south-east of England giving us a long cool summer. Our vines flourish in this longer growing season, producing fruit that has the perfect balance of natural sweetness and acidity. And it is only this fruit that we use in the making of our sparkling Squerryes. All our wines are vintage wines made using the ‘traditional method’, or as we now call it the ‘Great British Classic Method’, with two fermentations, the second in the bottle. We are proud to be the only English wine estate to have won a gold medal for five consecutive vintages in the World Championships of Champagne and Sparkling Wine. In 2021 we also won the 'Best English Sparkling Wine' Trophy in the International Wine Challenge and 'Best in Show' in Decanter's World Wine Awards, recognising our wines in the top 50 in the World. A real crowd pleaser. £52.27 £61.50 750ml bottle 2018 Vintage Rosé £9.75 £11.50 125ml glass Our finest Rosé vintage has a fresh nose of summer pudding and an intense concentration of ripe strawberries and cream on the palate with an elegant, soft finish. It’s a beautiful wine with real finesse. 65% Pinot Meunier and 35% Pinot Noir. £58.65 £69 750ml bottle 2016 Vintage Blanc de Blancs £10.60 £12.50 125ml glass In the words of the estate owner, Henry Warde our Blanc de Bancs is: “the finest wine to leave the estate”. It has a complex nose: freshly baked pastries married with pink grapefruit with a wonderful concentration of creamy fruit on the palate giving way to the signature long, smooth Squerryes finish. 2014 Vintage Blanc de Blancs £72.25 £85 750ml bottle Very pale straw in colour with a fine mousse from 6 years lees ageing. It has a complex nose with very many nuances: freshly baked pastries married with pink grapefruit and apple strudel. There is a wonderful concentration of creamy fruit on the palate, plus yeasty, bready notes from the extended lees ageing giving way to the signature long and smooth Squerryes finish. 2013 Vintage Brut £66.30 £78 750ml bottle 36 months on the cork, having been disgorged in October 2018. 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier. Pale straw in colour with a delicate mousse. On the nose freshly cut grass and summer flowers, complemented by baked green apples and stone fruits. On the palate, there is a real intensity of fruit with crisp orchard apples and pears alongside some light brioche notes and the characteristic long Squerryes finish. 2010 Vintage Brut – Late Disgorged £89.25 £105 750ml bottle 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier. The last of our first vintage and a very special wine from our portfolio with 118 months aged on the lees. Intense developed nose of bruised apples, toasted hazelnuts and crème caramel. On the palate it shows creamy ripe peach fruit with a nutty richness and great complexity, evolving beautifully in the mouth to a long fresh finish. A rich, complex wine that you would want to savour with your best friends. 2011 Vintage Brut – Late Disgorged £106.25 £125 750ml bottle 45% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier. A real richness to this wine from 95 months lees ageing. A fresh nose with pear and a hint of honey, complemented by the distinctive smell of freshly baked white bread. On the palate, a warm almond croissant balanced by a lively acidity from our rich, creamy Chardonnay fruit, with a pure, mineral-rich finish from our unique terroir. This wine from old bush vines has a fresh nose of tangerines and stone fruits, with flavours of peaches and apricots and a savoury twist. Small Town Vineyards Rag & Bone Riesling, Eden Valley, Australia, 2019 £31 In great demand from a family owned vineyard this bone dry, bright, zingy wine is packed with fresh limes and mineral fruit. Papagiannakos Assyrtiko Attica, Greece, 2019 (Vg | V) £33 This truly delicious characterful wine has zesty citrus flavours with a hint of orange blossom and a salty streak. It is produced in a stunning bio climatic winery, the first in Greece. Simpsons Gravel Castle Chardonnay, Kent, England, 2020 (Vg / V) £9.75 £38 This wine is a firm favourite with our Squerryes regulars, and shows a wonderfully pure expression of unoaked chardonnay. Think Chablis with an English accent. Wildeberg Terroirs Chenin Blanc, Paarl, South Africa, 2020 (Vg |V ) £39 After trying many South African Chenins, this one really shone: the ancient granite soil yields a very concentrated, mineral and complex wine with a broad creamy nose, notes of blood orange and a taut finish, a true expression of the terroir. Sancerre Silex Domaine Michel Girard, France, 2020 (Vg ) £11.65 £44 A perfect expression of Sauvignon Blanc and not your run of the mill Sancerre to boot. Silex means flint, with this wine from a single vineyard which provides minerality on the nose. A magnificent companion to Al Fresco dining. Chapel Down Kit’s Coty Bacchus, Kent, England, 2018 (Vg |V ) £48 This wine demonstrates the potential the Bacchus grape has to make stunning still wine in our English climate, made here by one of our Wine Garden of England partners. Peach and melon aromas give way to grapefruit, pineapple and other tropical flavours on the palate, with a crisp citrus acidity and a hint of oak. Capitel Croce IGT Anselmi, Veneto, Italy, 2019 (Vg | V) £58 Roberto Anselmi is so passionate about the quality of his wines from these spectacular slopes outside Verona that he has thrown away the rule book, hence the IGT classification. Arguably his best white, made from 100% Garganega, it has orchard fruits, pears, and peaches, with notes of butter and honey. Stunning. Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru, Les Morgeots Vallet Freres, France 2014 (Vg | V | St) £125 A very fine white Burgundy indeed, made in an ultra-traditional way: it is fermented in open wood casks using only wild yeasts and no temperature control, then aged in French oak for two years. The result is a complex wine with aromas of toasted nuts and caramel, a full creamy palate and an elegant finish. Vg – vegan, V – vegetarian, S – without sulphites, B – biodynamic, St – Sustainable Rosé Wine 750ml bottle Balfour Nannettes English Rose Hush Heath, Kent, England, 2019 (Vg | V) £40 Hush Hath have justifiably gained a great reputation for their still rose wine. With a beautiful delicate pink hue, this wine is the perfect accompaniment to an English summer’s day, bursting with strawberries and redcurrants with herbal notes. Drink with absolutely anything. Ch Sainte Marguerite Symphonie Rose, Provence, France, 2020 (Vg | V) £60 From one of the finest estates in the region, this is Provence rosé at its very best. Delicately fragrant with wild strawberries and blossom, it has peach and orange peel on the palate with subtle minerality. Refreshing and moreish with hints of the sea, it will be hard to stop at one bottle.
