LOVECRAFT MOVIE SCREENINGS! Below, you’ll find our list of films screening during the week of the convention. To start it all off, though, we’d like to mention that our compatriots at the Arkham Film Society are putting on two evenings of great films the weekend prior – on Friday, August 16th, and Sunday, August 18th. For more information on these great films, please follow these two links to their facebook event page: AFS FRIDAY and AFS SUNDAY Soo… our films! ALL are WELCOME – the movies are open to the general (non-convention-going) public at a low admission price, as listed. Convention three-day passholders get free access to the Thursday to Sunday films as part of their pass (please have your ticket with you), and day ticket holders get free access to the films showing that day. All movies are generally hosted or attended by the filmmakers themselves, so there will be opportunities for some brief Q&A. First come, first served! OUR VENUES: Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Auditorium – 7 Canal Walk, Providence, 02903 Black Box Theater, AS220 – 95 Empire Street, Providence, 02903 – AS220 also has a full bar and a great little restaurant (Foo(d) right next door. Tuesday, August 20th - Lovecraft’s birthday! 7pm – Black Box Theater (95 Empire) – HP Lovecraft Historical Society’s modern-classic silent send- up, The Call of Cthulhu,” and selected Lovecraftian short films from our collection. $3 admission for all, drinks 21+ 10pm – Black Box Theater (95 Empire) – “Psychedelic Lovecraft” - a collage of mind-melding movies compiled by our own Frank Difficult. $3 admission for all, drinks 21+ Wednesday, August 21st 8pm – Black Box Theater (95 Empire) – Short films: Transcendent, The Earth Rejects Him, The Shunned House, and more… $3 admission for all, drinks 21+ 10pm - Black Box Theater (95 Empire) –- HP Lovecraft Film Festival Greatest Hits! A collection of the HPLFF’s most worshiped shorts from past years. $3 admission for all, drinks 21+ Thursday, August 22nd 4pm - Black Box Theater (95 Empire) –- HP Lovecraft Film Festival Greatest Hits! A collection of the HPLFF’s most worshiped shorts from past years. $3 admission for all, drinks 21+ 6pm - Black Box Theater (95 Empire) – Short films: Transcendent, The Earth Rejects Him, The Shunned House, and more… $3 admission for all, drinks 21+ 8pm - RISD Auditorium (7 Canal Walk) - The Ancestor, a rare feature-length Lovecraft film by Dan O'Bannon (the writer for many famous films such as Alien and Total Recall) – this is a viewing of his personal much-improved version of the studio hack-job known as The Resurrected or Shatterbrain, based on the HPL story “The Case of Charles Dexter Ward.” This is playing with the debut short film Miskatonic University. $5 for the general public, free for convention-goers. 10pm - Black Box theater (95 Empire) – HP Lovecraft Historical Society’s The Whisperer in Darkness feature-length film, and the twisted short film, Stay at Home Dad. $3 admission for the general public, free for convention-goers, drinks 21+ Midnight – Black Box theater (95 Empire) - 10th anniversary screening of the epic animated Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath - truly surreal experience beyond the wall of sleep! $3 for the general public, free for convention-goers.
