She has a PhD in linguistics from Trondheim, has been teaching for 24 years at Oslo University, researches grammar and also speaks Russian. He has won a number of awards, including the Riverton Prize, the Brage Award, the Booksellers’ Award and the Riksmål Prize. Several of his books have been adapted into films with great success.
