This Week at SCARC

This Week at Volume 8, Issue 25 Friday, July 16, 2021 Mid July News at SCARC’s Day Hab Goes Digital program remains popular with those who are still at home. Staff Mary Beth and Michael (left) of our Lafayette group home take on yoga class with our online instruction. In addition, Spencer (right) enjoys cooking with Jenny (our dietician) and has prepared a healthy Chicken Ratatouille at his home. A hike in the woods at Quiet Valley Farm in Stroudsburg PA (left) is just the activity of great enjoyment for our Summer Experience teens. Getting out into nature and relishing the great summer weather is a popular activity for teens wanting to be active at SCARC. In the photo (right) our teens were thrilled by Field Station Dinosaurs in Leonia, NJ. The campers attended shows all about dinosaurs and revived a book and after each show the staff would stamp their books in order for them to become supper paleontologist. Our Summer Experience program is supported in part by The James Verhalen Family Foundation. Coming up on August 26 is SCARC night at the Skylands Stadium to watch the Sussex County Miners vs New Jersey Jackals baseball game. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the SCARC Foundation. You must purchase your tickets from the SCARC Foundation office in Augusta. For more information, contact Chris Hemmer at [email protected]. See the flyer on page 2 of newsletter. Safari from our Wantage group home enjoys food preparation as much as the rest of our group home residents, especially when she participates in our Day Hab Goes Digital program. In the photo, Safari prepares a salad for her meal. The guys from our Newton group home (left) traveled to Wawayanda State Park in Vernon recently to enjoy hiking in the outdoors and taking in the great summer weather. Summer Experience camper Patrick enjoys the beauty of Dingmans Falls in Dingmans Ferry PA. Dingmans is part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Our campers can view the Falls from the wheelchair deck from the Dingmans Creek Trail. What a great experience! .
