Photo by Nigel West 2 Chairman’s welcome Today we extend a warm Vertigo welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Hallam FC. It was great to be back in competitive action last Saturday, and we are grateful to you for co- operating with the extra precautions we had in place to guard against the spread of COVID-19. Having done so well to combat the virus and get back to being able to watch grassroots football it would be a tragedy if we had to close our doors again. Please stay alert, stay safe and continue to follow the latest guidance. It was a shame that the lads couldn’t build on their first half lead last week, and slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Dronfield Town. I’m sure the players, and management team, will be going all out to show their bouncebackability today, but I’m equally sure that Hallam won’t be in any mood to gift wrap the three points. Don’t forget we are in action again on Tuesday night when we travel to Selby Town who also lost their opening game of the season. It wouldn’t be the same without a midweek trip to North Yorkshire. You will recall that two seasons ago we travelled all the way to Selby in the league cup only to have the game postponed by a tea-time deluge. Boston League latest Both our Boston League sides played their last pre-season friendlies last weekend ahead of the big kick-off today. Both won 2-1, the development side overcoming a strong Louth Old Boys outfit. Today our Reserves travel to Sleaford to take on Northgate Olympic in the Premier Division, while the development side travel to the Peter Paine Performance Centre for a Challenge Cup tie against Boston College. Next Saturday our second string are at home to Fishtoft in the Fishtoft Cup, but the match will kick-off at the earlier time off 2pm. The development side travel to Woodhall Spa United Reserves next Saturday for a league fixture, kicking-off at 2.30pm. Player Sponsorship Don’t forget there are a large number of sponsorship options open to you either as an individual or as a local business. You can get to know more by speaking to any of the committee members at today’s game.
