RETIRED MEN'S ASSOCIATION OF GREENWICH, Inc. (RMA) Invites you to its meeting May 18, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, Lafayette Place, Greenwich, CT. Maria Tiscia and David Oliver “Composers of The Great American Songbook – A Sampling” Vocalist Maria Tiscia and her partner and accompanist David Oliver present songs from the Great American Songbook, including Cole Porter, Gershwin, Berlin, Mancini, and Mercer. These songs have delighted audiences around the world for almost one hundred years. Tiscia is a longtime resident of Stamford, Connecticut and has been singing and performing professionally in the area since the early 1970s, not long after she graduated from Rippowam High School. She spent her formative years performing in TV and radio commercials with the late jazz musician Don Elliot. Through her association with Elliot she had the privilege of working on movie scores and projects for Quincy Jones. She currently performs in the tri-state area with her partner, David Oliver, and many of the best musicians the New York and Connecticut area has to offer. She and her band recently opened for Grammy Award Winner, Dianne Reeves. Pianist, David Oliver spent many years as a studio musician in Nashville, Tennessee where he performed with Ella Fitzgerald, Brenda Lee, Gladys Knight, etc. He moved to New York City in the 80s where he spent many years as an accompanist and arranger for various cabaret acts. He currently performs in the tri-state area, as well as teaching privately in Greenwich and Westchester. Since then, she has built a career performing at venues across Fairfield, New Haven and Westchester (N.Y.) counties. She and Oliver, and her other musicians, perform at Fuji of Japan in Darien, Villa Italia in Stamford, Sono Seaport Seafood in Norwalk, Bernard’s Inn at Ridgefield, Fairways at the Griff in Greenwich, Elements in White Plains, and for over 20 years, at the Doral Arrowwood Hotel/Conference Center.
