Romano Brands Fine Wines Wholesale Purveyors and Importers of Fine Wines Simposio Simposio wines display remarkable intensity and balance, showing the true potential of Southern Italy. Intense, dark brooding fruit is given structure by soft integrated tannins and subtle oak ageing. Simposio wines are powerful but well poised, long and complex to finish. Brindisi is a town and coastal wine region in the Puglia province of Southern Italy. The growing zone encompasses the town of Brindisi and its environs as well as vineyards in the adjacent Mesagne. There is an ancient history of winemaking here, as the city has long been a major trade hub and the main port connecting to Italy’s “heel,” thus providing Rome and the East with its wines, salt and olive oil. Despite what should be obvious climatic influences from the Adriatic Sea, the region still has that Puglian characteristic of being blazing hot and dry in summer. The DOC wines are based on the Negroamaro grape.
