We are so glad to have you and your family as part of our school community. In fact this is your school and we look forward to a wonderfully productive partnership. Students I encourage you to allow God to challenge, shape and grow your character this year. It is the depth and quality of your character that will open doors for you, enable you to face hard situations and to help you pursue your dreams. I love the ARISE Elim culture that repeatedly emphasizes Achievement to be the best you can be; taking Responsibility and acting with respect; being Inspired in your thinking and developing an impressive backpack of skills; all laid on a deep foundation of Christian character and Elim values. Again this year you will hear the right time, right place, right thing and right attitude message. We make no apology for this because you must be highly focused to achieve academically and grow socially, emotionally and spiritually. To promote and teach the Lordship of JESUS CHRIST, the fullness of the HOLY SPIRIT and the ultimate authority of GOD’S WORD in all aspects of the school and life in general. 3. The curriculum supports and empowers all students to learn and achieve personal High Expectations excellence, regardless of their individual circumstances. The curriculum acknowledges the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and the bicultural Treaty of Waitangi foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand. All students have the opportunity to acquire knowledge of te reo Maori me ona tikanga. The curriculum reflects New Zealand’s cultural diversity and values the histories and Cultural Diversity traditions of all its people. The curriculum is non-sexist, non-racist, and non-discriminatory; it ensures that students’ Inclusion identities, languages, abilities and talents are recognised and affirmed and that their learning needs are addressed. In so doing, they make a firm commitment to support the philosophy, goals and practices of the school and agree to abide by its policies and procedures, in particular: 1. Support the teacher as the classroom manager and learning facilitator. 2. Send students to school on time and pick them up after school on time. 3. Respond promptly to school communications which require a reply. 4. Expect students to be responsible for their own behaviour and take some responsibility for their own learning. 5. Send students to school encouraging them to have a positive attitude toward learning by expecting them to do their best work at all times. 6. Send students to school clean, healthy, rested and adhering to the uniform dress code. 7.
