The hurdy-gurdy must be fully chromatic; the drones are off. Dance II: The bagpipes should have a natural scale ofd-major, drone on. Hurdy-gurdy drones on,trompette tuned to d. Pitches for the drones are indicated on the bass staves; the trompette rhythm is also indicated on this stave. Dance III: The shawm should likewise have a natural scale of d. Trompette remains on d;the retuning of the other drone is an integral part of the piece, occupying the final extended bar of the previous dance. Dance IV: In the Tempo Libre sections estimate durations and speeds from the notation. Hurdy-gurdy should tune one course of chanterelles down a minor third;the score therefore gives only the upper note of a melody in parallel thirds. Tune the trompette to e,other drones as indicated. Except where indicated,the wheel should be jerked rather than turned continuously to produce a staccato effect. Dance V: Hurdy-gurdy retune chanterelles to unison,trompette remains on e,one other drone as indicated. ^3 — — 1 Ij^'i i LI LI I frJ-—; 1 t^fc ui : J cc F 1 L[ VI i ^1 Lf lI f—j ri 1 I.— — ^4 i i M1—/ =1- i z:^—\—~T-~^ y 4 —# - Vt-f- K 14 » » » ^ • 4—• i»—^^ 4 i-^ • ""U""j # *• ¥ * -y - p 1 .." 21 f ^ ^ » * 5 -7~ 7 4 tea t- J5 •-h-ft IS ^— i i >l H»—^- f—-ft 4 5 Zifl ri 11 n i^n ri Tl ri ihri n Hji ifp i iTn —t— t^' _i ^^^^ m i— 8*^— « . *— ^ i—1 45 1 1» k i — III I'r II- y 5f b. 5 ^ K- 5 /I S I 9—* 4 4 i -r r-^ r p f f *—»— *- • —« iTif^—^ •— 9 m \—*— P- • I II roily ^—• >i j J J / Jj 3 ^ j 3 II f ^- i= cf n= ^-n.-j 1 r i 4 ft i: ff ! <10 'If 1,1. ^ i 2 -0- 1 rji-^^- 1 V \ ^Li y <r;=il —d ;^— i 3 J. r'lf Ifr^^Hrd—THT—r" : — 1 3 1 • 3 1 f pfir 1~ bf I—s-^,—1 F- - - •• ^>—r ?<•4 4?< J?<i \_ .\^ jT)} V r. f—-— ' f 1^ \ ^\ \'^^'—- r 3 1 J bJ r 1 ——g 1 i 1 • J—1 )^ J.' f—1 1 — 7 = I y y >j. ^ y 1 i '/ " 7 7 - f—#7°r r~ [ L[ L l^f L' LI . t>f , .
