Although the Nursery is run as a ‘PVI’, it is very much part of the day to day running of the Primary School. The nursery, known as ‘Acorn Class’, has its own separate and well-equipped classroom, and the children have access to all the school’s facilities, including the hall and outside playgrounds and fields. The Nursery employs two Nursery Supervisors and an Early Years Co-ordinator (the school’s Reception Class Teacher) who work closely together to ensure the children are given an excellent start to their education. The school’s ethos of ‘Enjoying Learning Together’ is shared by the Nursery. The curriculum is planned carefully to provide a wide range of exciting play opportunities and to develop basic skills and the knowledge necessary for a smooth start into school. Activities are tailored to meet children’s individual needs and give opportunities for each child to be supported and extended where appropriate. Our Nursery offers education and care for children over the age of 3 years old; this provision is very much welcomed by the local community and is well-subscribed. 6 .
