Other Names Erysiphe taurica Lév. Oidiopsis sicula Scalia 2.5. Diagnostic Notes **Disease** Powdery mildew of peppers. White growth of mycelium and conidia form colonies on underside of leaves, distorting the leaves to some extent. Sometimes somewhat restricted by main leaf veins. Corresponding upper surface may show some discolouration. Unlike other powdery mildews, little superficial mycelium is formed and conidiophores grow out through stomata, mostly on under surface of leaves. **Morphology** _Colonies_ on both surfaces of leaves although mostly on under surface, white or becoming dull yellow in places. _Conidiophores_ unbranched, hyaline. _Conidia_ borne singly, hyaline, non-septate, of two distinct shapes; first formed conidia lanceolate, usually pointed towards the apex, 50–80 × (9–)12–16(–20) µm, length/width ratio 3.5–5.5; later-formed conidia ellipsoid to cylindric, (55–)50–75(–80) × 11–16(–20) µm. 2.6.
