Enjoy a complimentary Afternoon Tea on arrival. Day 2: South Purbeck Coast Option 1 - Dancing Ledge Distance: 6 miles (9½km) Ascent: 800 feet (240m) In Summary: Walk from the village of Langton Matravers to the coast at Dancing Ledge, a popular spot for rock climbers. From here we head east along the South West Coast Path to the Swanage. Highlight: There's time to explore the traditional seaside resort of Swanage with its beach, pier and steam railway. Option 2 - St Aldhelm's Head Distance: 9½ miles (15km) Ascent: 1,200 feet (400m) In Summary: Walk from the picturesque village of Worth Matravers to the coast at St. Aldhelm’s Head. From here the route follows the South West Coast Path, passing old quarries and Dancing Ledge to reach Swanage. Highlight: With fine coastal walking throughout, there's much to enjoy on this strectch of the Jurassic Coast. Our walk along the coastal path passes Chapman’s Pool with some steep ascents and descents before rounding St Aldhelm’s Head and continuing to Swanage. Highlight: The horseshoe cove at Chapman's Pool; a tranquil haven beneath the towering cliffs. Day 3: Corfe Castle To Studland Option 1 - Corfe Castle To Studland Distance: 7 miles (11km) Ascent: 1,050 feet (320m) In Summary: Enjoy a stunning variety of inland and coastal scenery. Our walk from Corfe Castle to Studland follows the glorious chalk ridge along the spine of Purbeck peninsula, with the views getting ever more impressive as we near our destination. Highlight: Walking atop the Downs is a real delight with panoramic views north over Poole Harbour, and south to the English Channel. Option 2 - Chalk Downs & Heath Distance: 9 miles (14½km) Ascent: 1,300 feet (380m) In Summary: Follow the chalk ridge from Corfe Castle heading towards the coast. Towards the end of the walk we cross the beautiful Godlingstone Heath, past the curious Agglestonne Rock, with the final stretch along the beach to Studland. Highlight: Godlingstone Heath is a fascinating scenic contrast, and an excellent place to spot rare butterflies and lizards basking in the sand. Option 3 - Old Harry Rocks Distance: 11 miles (17½km) Ascent: 1,350 feet (420m) In Summary: Cross fields and common land to Corfe Castle then follow the fabulous chalk ridge along the spine of the Purbeck peninsula to Ballard Down and the coast at Old Harry Rocks. Highlight: Soak up the sea views from the famous chalk stacks of Old Harry Rocks, and gaze out towards the corresponding Needles Rocks on the Isle of Wight. www.hfholidays.co.uk PAGE 3 [email protected] Tel: +44(0) 20 3974 8865 Day 4: Around Lulworth Option 1 - Above Lulworth And Durdle Door Distance: 6.5 miles (10.5km) Ascent: 1,100 feet (340m) In Summary: This walk leads us into the village of West Lulworth and gradually up into the hills. From here we head west towards Scratchy Bottom. We then join the South West Coast path and make our way back to Lulworth via Durdle Door. Highlight: Aside from the potential for glorious views along the Coast Path. Scratchy bottom, although noted for its rather unusual name is a lovely chalk valley surrounded by farmland. Option 2 - Dorset Coast Path Distance: 9 miles (14.5km) Ascent: 1,450 feet (440m) In Summary: After a fairly level walk West, on the inland track, to reach Burning Cliff and St Catherine’s church, we have a fabulous walk along a section of the Dorset Coast Path as we return. Highlight: The tiny church with its view over Weymouth Bay. Option 3 - Durdle Door Distance: 10 miles (16km) Ascent: 1,750 feet (540m) In Summary: Again a fabulous circular walk above the coast visiting St Catherine’s Church with its beautifully etched glass. Expect some steep ups and downs as you follow the rollercoaster chalk cliffs back towards Durdle Door and on to Lulworth Cove. Highlight: The stunning and strenuous coastal walk along the 'Bottoms' and past Durdle Door. Day 5: Departure Day Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before making your way home. We also follow part of the South West Coast Path to Swanage. Why not warm up with coffee and cake at Durlston? Highlight: Industrial heritage of stone quarrying and The Great Globe in Durlston Country Park. Option 2 - Dancing Ledge Distance: 8½ miles (13.5km) Ascent: 1,150 feet (360m) In Summary: We walk from the picturesque village of Worth Matravers down to the coast and along the famous South West Coast Path to Dancing Ledge. We then go on to follow the Priests' Way to Durlston Country Park and on to Swanage. Highlight: The delightful village of Worth Matravers and the old quarry at Dancing Ledge. Option 3 - Purbeck Coast Distance: 10½ miles (17.5km) Ascent: 1,400 feet (440m) In Summary: Walking out towards the coast above Chapman's Pool from the village of Kingston we take in the highlights of the South Purbeck Peninsula including Dancing Ledge, the Priests' Way and Durlson Country Park. We will be ready for a warm coffee or a pint once we reach Swanage. Highlight: The “Cathedral of the Purbecks” at Kingston and the spectacular views over the Encombe estate. Day 3: Swyre Head And On To Corfe Castle Option 1 - Swyre Head & Corfe Distance: 6½ miles (10.5km) Ascent: 650 feet (200m) In Summary: Walk from Kingston village south west to the viewpoint of Swyre Head. We then head inland to the village of Church Knowle then onto the chalk ridge which heads to the village of Corfe Castle. We make our way to the village of Kingston and finally walk Northward to enjoy the village of Corfe Castle. Highlight: If we are very lucky we’ll see all the way to Dartmoor from the superb viewpoint at Swyre Head. Option 3 - Kingston To Corfe Castle Distance: 9 miles (14.5km) Ascent: 1,020 feet (320m) In summary: We will also start from Kingston, but we first head out towards Kimmeridge to take in Swyre Head and on to Steeple to take advantage of the views along Ridgeway Hill before descending to Corfe Castle. Highlight: The impressive Ridgeway Hill from Steeple to Corfe castle.
