DRESS REGULATIONS Please ensure that your dress and that of your guests is neat and presentable at all times. Extremes of casual dress are unacceptable and deemed inappropriate at the Kloof Country Club including denim jeans on the golf course. After 18h00 in the Club House Sandals are prohibited. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS Members are required to ensure that their guests are signed on at the Pro-Shop and that the required green fees are paid. (This is the member’s responsibility). The same guest may not be introduced on more than two occasions per month. If the guest is not playing golf he must be signed on by the member in the Visitor’s Book provided at the entrance to the Clubhouse. Permission for visitors to play golf on a Saturday needs to be obtained from the Captain. USEFUL INFORMATION -All bookings open 1 week in advance -Score cards to be handed into the Proshop immediately after your round -Two score cards to be kept within the rules of golf, the exception being when an alliance is the competition on the day -Prize giving will commence soon after all cards are handed in, am cut off 13h00 & pm cut off 17h45 ETIQUETTE OF THE GAME All members are required to observe the Rules and Etiquette of Golf. Other players suffer through lack of consideration in not adhering to the Rules and Etiquette of Golf. Your Special attention is drawn to the following: • Booking sheets open 1 week in advance • Adhere strictly to the time sheet and be on the tee ten minutes before your time. • Keep moving. Leave the green immediately the hole has been completed. • If you cannot keep your place, signal through the players behind you. • Replace divots and don’t take divots in your practice swings. Players are required to carry a sand bag and pitch fork at all times. • After playing from a bunker, smooth/rake the sand. • No one should move or talk or stand directly behind the player or the ball or the hole when a player is making a stroke. • Walk around the greens and tees, not over them. Park your caddie cart behind the green to the side nearest to the next teeing ground. • Adhere to all areas roped off. • Don’t practice on the fairways. • Please use bins provided for your rubbish. • Competitions will go ahead regardless (unless conditions/course dictate otherwise) • Two score cards to be kept within the Rules of golf, exception of Alliance Competitions. • Prize giving will commence soon after cards collected in Proshop. Cut off 13h00 (am) and +- 17h45 (pm). • Suspension of Play: Siren, one long blast, all players to mark their ball and leave field of play immediately, two short blasts, play may be resumed. ASSESSMENT OF HANDICAPS Kloof Country Club handicapping is on the basis of HNA calculations. HOW TO COMPUTE HANDICAPS Scores are entered through the handicap terminal and handicapping is administered by Handicaps Network South Africa KCC HANDICAP DIVISIONS 0-9 – A Division 10-15 – B Division 16-36 – C Division FORWARD BLUE TEE ADVISORY Players who choose to play off the Forward Tee in Club competitions must reduce their handicap by 2 shots each time. Players who elect to use the Forward Tees in the Monthly Medal competitions must reduce their handicaps by 3 shots in accordance with the SAGA course ratings. USE OF CARTS IN TROPHY EVENTS The use of carts by playing members in trophy events will be allowed at the discretion of the tournament director by prior arrangement. MENS COMPETITIONS ALLIANCE PROPERTY GROUP MEDAL CHAMPION TROPHY Presented in 1999 by Roy Alderdice of The Alliance Property Group; three floating trophies for the A, B and C divisions, to be played for in conjunction with the January Monthly Medal Open to Members who have won a Medal Competition during the year previously and who have played a minimum of six monthly medal competitions. ANNIVERSARY CUP Our oldest Trophy presented to the Kloof and District Golf Club by Otto Siedle who was a founder member of that club. 18 holes Alliance 4 Ball Stableford on full handicap: 2 scores to count. Members and accepted candidates only. All Day Competition. CAPTAIN vs VICE CAPTAIN Instigated in 2018 by the then Captain Bob Dye and Vice Captain Garry Ecob. Open to selected members, Lady Captain and Vice Captains. 4 Ball Alliance Stableford. CAPTAIN'S PRIZE AND TROPHY The trophy, a propeller hub from a war-time fighter plane was presented in 1969 by John Whittaker, a popular Golf Captain and ex-Imperial Airways and B.O.A.C flying Boat Captain. The form of play is decided each year by the reigning Golf Captain. In the event of a tie, a play-off takes place within two weeks over 18 holes. Members and accepted candidates only. All Day. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS This competition was the brainchild of D.H. Hamilton an ex- Captain who also presented the handsome trophy. Each club in Natal is invited to enter their Club Champion, either Stroke play or Match play, to participate in this 36-hole stroke play event, which normally takes place in November. There is also keen competition for the best Nett score. This competition which started in 1972 has been described as one of the best in the country by both players and spectators alike. CHIGWELL CUP Presented in 1951 by Malcolm Holdsworth. 4 Ball Better Ball Match Play Knock-out on full handicap -18 holes except the final which is 36 holes. The lowest handicap goes back to scratch and the other handicaps are adjusted accordingly – Open to Members only. Choose your own partners. All matches must be played to a finish. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS A Division - Handicaps up to and including 9. Trophy presented in 1932 by F.J. Lennox, a member of the Kloof and District Golf Club and who was M.P. for a Durban constituency. 36 holes stroke play – Open to Members only. The A Division Club Champion qualifies for the Champion of Champions Tournament. B Division - Handicaps 10 to 15 inclusive. Trophy presented in 1957 by Ross MacCullam, an old member of the Club and Chairman from 1950 to 1955. 36 holes stroke play – Open to Members only C Division - Handicaps of 16 and over Trophy presented by Cliff Faircliff in 1966. 36 Holes individual stableford. In the event of an ‘A’ & ‘B’ division tie there will be a play-off as determined by the tournament director prior to play commencing on the day. C Divisions ties will be determined by a count-out. The event is played over 2 days. CLUB MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS A Division - Handicaps up to and including 9. Open to members only. The holder is exempt from qualifying - seeded No.2. The best 15 gross scores from the Stroke Play Championships along with the holder go on to match play stages, each round being 18 holes match play. All matches are played to a finish. The winner qualifies for the Champion of Champions Tournament. B Division - Handicaps 10 to 15 inclusive. Open to members only. The best 15 gross scores from the B Division Stroke Play Championships go on to the match play stages, each round being 18 holes match play. The holder is exempt from qualifying - seeded No.2. All matches are played to a finish. C Division – Handicaps 16+. Open to members only. The top 8 qualifiers to play semi-finals and finals, 18 holes. CURLY KILGOUR MEMORIAL TROPHY Presented in 1965 by an ex-Chairman of the Club who wishes to remain anonymous in memory of Curly Kilgour, an old and much respected member of the Club, who was known for his work on the course and for “testing” the greens with his old putter which now hangs in the bar. 18 Holes 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford on full handicap. Members and accepted candidates only. All Day. KLOOF FOURSOMES TROPHY Presented in 1994 by D G Horne.
