Glasgow Clyde College works together with our partners to cultivate and maintain meaningful partnerships with industry employers, schools and other stakeholders across the community; enabling them to become co-investors and designers in the curriculum. Glasgow Clyde College is a sector-leading centre for vocational and academic education. Formed in 2013 from the merger of Anniesland, Cardonald and Langside Colleges, we have forged strong links with some of Scotland’s most successful employers, including BAE Systems, ScottishPower, Rolls-Royce, Doosan Babcock, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, East Renfrewshire Council, Scottish Water, Scottish Child Minding Association, Alzheimers Scotland, Job Centre Plus, Skills Development Scotland, CrossReach and Barrhead Travel. We deliver over 1,150 Modern Apprenticeships in engineering, construction, fashion and textiles, water, healthcare and journalism. To find out more visit glasgowclyde.ac.uk or contact [email protected] Employer Engagement * Working in partnership with the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and with Renfrewshire Council for learners with Additional Support for Learning Needs (ASL) – our collaboration was awarded the SURF Award for Best Practice in Community Regeneration in the Support for Work Category * Young Enterprise Scotland partnered the College in the delivery of their Social Enterprise for ESOL learners at Rouken Glen * We work alongside a wide range of Glasgow partnerships to provide ESOL and ALN provision to the most disadvantaged in the city * The Community Planning Partnerships have asked us to consult on the Youth Employment Strategies being developed in the south and north of Glasgow. Faculty of Access and Continuing Learning Continuing and of Access Faculty Key Features * Many of the programmes we develop with our partners support those furthest away from the labour market to access training * Community Planning Partnerships, Jobs and Business Glasgow and Glasgow Works, as well as the voluntary sector, have all formed close working relationships with us * Glasgow Life and the South Adult Learning Partnership have also asked us to work with them on local projects * In conjunction with local partners we have developed customised provision to meet the diverse range of needs shown by the most disadvantaged groups OVERVIEW * We have recently been awarded a Young Enterprise Scotland Partnership Award * Together with our partners we have delivered a significant volume of courses for pupils from special needs schools. Employer Engagement * We have developed strong links with IT industry leaders such as CISCO, Microsoft, Oracle, Dell, CIW, CompTIA, BT and Capita * Scottish Institute for Enterprise, Department of Work and Pensions, and KPMG have created working partnerships with us * Professional bodies such as CIMA and ACCA have developed strong links with the Faculty * We are members of the Scottish Tourism Alliance and the Scottish Tourism and Hospitality Association * We enjoy strong partnerships with travel industry employers such as Servisair, AviaTrans, Clyde Travel Management and Barrhead Travel * Glasgow Life, Active Schools, Addactions, Renfrewshire Council, Fitness Scotland, Rangers FC, Partick Thistle FC and Disability Faculty of Business and Finance and of Business Faculty Scotland partner us on projects for sport and fitness * Together with Historic Scotland we have developed project-based work briefs * Working with leading names in the hospitality sector such as Hilton, Marriott, Cameron House and Premier Inn, we are able to offer our students a significant number of placements * Both the business and medical sectors work with us to provide strong levels of placements in hospitals, GP surgeries and many of the leading Glasgow-wide businesses and organisations. Key Features * We are the lead college for the Industry Training Providers Consortium for Scotland - supporting a number of other colleges in the implementation of Microsoft qualifications * We are developing innovative work in the use of digital technology and virtual learning environments to enhance learning * We are leading practice in Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce via Game Jam and Coder Dojo programming events to primary and OVERVIEW secondary school pupils * Currently we are working with other city colleges and the BBC to deliver the ‘Make it Digital’ Scotland pilot * We were the first training provider to work with The Scottish Food and Drink Skills Academy. Employer Engagement * A majority of the Faculty’s programmes are developed and delivered in conjunction with Sector Skills Council’s and key employers including BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, ScottishPower and Diageo * Glasgow City Council partner with us and allow access to their horticulture and landscaping facilities, which their ensures training is matched to employer requirements * The Faculty is a Member of the Energy Skills Partnership Steering Group and Scottish Renewables * In addition we also work with SNIPEF, CITB and SECTT who represent a number of leading employers within the construction industry. Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment and of Engineering Faculty Key Features * Feedback from employers suggests that they rate highly the quality of the provision delivered and the clear routes to employment we offer * We are the only provider in Scotland of water courses, delivering qualifications on behalf of Scottish Water and other suppliers throughout the UK * We are the only Glasgow college to provide horticulture and OVERVIEW landscaping qualifications * We have established a micro renewables centre to meet the demands of this growing sector * The faculty has an excellent schools programme for students to gain extra qualifications whilst remaining at schools. Employer Engagement * The Faculty has a significant level of employer engagement including students undertaking employer-led, work-based projects across all areas * We have developed close partnerships with the Scottish Textiles Academic Group, Scottish Textiles and Leather Association and Creative Skillset * The Faculty is an integral partner in writing the Scottish Textiles Skills Strategy and Action Plan * We have excellent links with Scottish Ballet, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Welsh Ballet * Creative Loop, Creative Skillset, NUJ, BBC, STUC, the Scottish Media Academy and Bauer Media partner the Faculty in the delivery of accredited training for the media sector * As the lead for the Scottish Textiles Academic Group we have been working with HRH the Prince of Wales, Dumfries House, Marks and Spencer, John Lewis Partnership, Burberry, Christopher Kane and various Scottish manufacturers to develop a Textile Heritage Centre with school workshops and pre-apprentice workshops * The Faculty also played a key role in the recent Festival of Fashion at Dumfries House Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries Cultural and of Creative Faculty * In conjunction with Creative Scotland and Digital Enterprise Glasgow, the College runs an incubator hub for new businesses in the creative industry sector. The success rate for the companies supported has been over 80%. * We have developed significant partnerships through funding from relevant industry agencies, Skills Development Scotland (SDS), Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. Key Features * Excellent student destination statistics, in particular for fashion, textiles, OVERVIEW art, digital design, journalism and television production * Only Scottish provider of stringed instrument making courses. * We also offer an honours degree in Graphic Design, and years one and two of the BA in Textiles. Employer Engagement * NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and NHS Education Scotland and other NHS Boards across Scotland task us with creating and delivering bespoke training. Our students benefit from work experience in hospitals for Nursing and Occupational Therapy Support. * A significant level of students also benefit from placements throughout the care sector in nurseries, care homes and primary schools * Glasgow City Council jointly delivers the First Steps to Childcare Project with the College. This innovative initiative is aimed at getting parents back in to work by creating family friendly pathways into the childcare sector * Carrick Spa in Loch Lomond has formed a partnership with the Faculty to provide high quality training experience for HNC Beauty Therapy students * The Scottish Child Minding Association works with us to deliver CPD and training for their members. Faculty of Health and Wellbeing of Health and Faculty Key Features * We achieve a significant scale of commercial delivery including a range of PDAs and VQs in Health and Social Care, Playwork, Childhood Practice, Occupational Therapy
