From the Diary ofVirginia Woolf Text from the Diary ofVuginia Woolf, edited by Leonard Woolf Music by Dominick Argento Viginia Lisa Lafleur Student Sarah Daughtrey ¥- Piano (Vanessa) Daniela Candillari .J-~ A setting of e~ ts from Woolf's journal, this ambitious and complex work offers in each song a glimpse into the writer's voyage of self-discovery as she observes her literary, emotional, social, and creative life. Observation as a source of artistic self-discovery is a central theme of the cycle: by observing dispassionately, Woolf hopes to make sense of her experience into art that will be " transparent enough to reflect the light of our life." 3\ ~}.
