Creating positive environments for young players to try, fail, grow and succeed. And Encouraging the student - athletes towards their life goals . Scorpions Soccer Club is an elite soccer organization that has established youth and elite training programs across multiple regions in Massachusetts. While emphasizing the “players come first” mentality, Scorpions has a long and reputable history in developing nationally recognized players, along with championship winning teams at both state and national levels. Scorpions, previously known as FC Boston Scorpions, currently competes within the ECNL, NPL and NEP leagues. The first Scorpions team was created in July of 1998 at the South Middle School in Braintree. Scorpions Soccer recognition grew to be so big that it required the club to expand into different parts of the state. This lead to even more competitive teams and helping place players into college becoming student athletes at some of the biggest Division 1, 2 and 3 schools in the country ! Scorpions Alum Samantha and Kristie Mewis have become members of the full US National team. Both Kristie and Sam were drafted in the top 5 of the NWSL in 2013 and 2015. Amy Caldwell, Lauren Berman and Mackenzie Meehan have also all participated with their U.S. Youth National Teams. In 2018, long serving employees and coaches of Scorpions Soccer Club Evan Burokas and Nick Rugnetta became the new Directors of the club. Burokas, Rugnetta and Darren Burke, together, make up the new board of directors for the non-profit organization. WHY SCORPIONS SOCCER Scorpions Soccer Club is one of two clubs in Massachusetts that holds licenses in arguably the Nations Best Youth Soccer League, The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL). The ECNL is comprised of the best soccer clubs across the country, separated into regional formats where players from the ages of 12 through 18 compete on the national level. With over 90% of graduating classes from across the ECNL platform moving on to play D1, D2 and D3 college soccer all over the country, the ECNL is the proven platform for college exposure and opportunity. Scorpions Soccer Club also competes within the more local National Premier League (NPL) and the New England Premiership (NEP). These local leagues are fantastic foundation blocks for playing some of the states / regions top teams. Scorpions Soccer is very proud to have had such a long list of notable alumni, but some of our more nationally recognized alumni include: Sam Mewis UCLA & Current USA Woman's National Team Lauren Berman BC & Professional at Hungaria FC Kristry Mewis BC & Houston Dash, Ex USA WMNT PLAYER DEVELOPMENT Over the years, Scorpions Soccer has been home to some of the finest female soccer teams and players this state and this country has seen. Much of this success is contributed to the clubs ability to prioritize and implement key player skill sets, across a variety of different age groups to ensure player development is aligned with player performance. According to our current ECNL, NPL, and NEP teams, it is evident that an overwhelming number of our future elite teams will be assembled by our own Junior Academy and soon to be NEP players. It gives the club, and its members, great pride to develop and prepare our youth for the competitive and challenging road ahead. This pathway is strategically implemented in order to guarantee the best possible player and team environment, for each calibre of soccer player within the club.
