10 DIVISION I Baseball DIVISION I 2002 Championship Edited by Ty Halpin. Highlights Horns Hook Fifth NCAA Title: Texas won its fifth championship, outlasting South Carolina, 12-6, in the title game June 22. Longhorns skipper Augie Garrido became the first coach to win a Men’s College World Series crown with two different teams. Garrido led Cal State Fullerton to three previous titles. Texas’ other championships came in 1949, 1950, 1975 and 1983. Reliever Huston Street hurled one and two-thirds scoreless innings to pick up a series-record fourth save and win most outstanding player honors. Street, the fourth freshman in history to win the award, allowed one hit and struck out one batter in his 14th save of the year.
