Please join the Center for Global Management (CGM) in hosting a Brown Bag Luncheon with Michael Riady (GEMBA Asia Pacific ’11), Chief Advisor to Group Chairman, Overseas Union Enterprise (OUE), a unit of the Lippo Group of Companies, a multi-billion plus Pan Asia diversified conglomerate. Michael joined the Lippo Group in 2004 and currently serves in various positions within the organization, primarily real estate in the United States and Indonesia. He has extensive experience in real estate design and development, operations and corporate finance and is a Director of Lippo Malls, Indonesia’s largest owner with 42 malls and over 25 in the pipeline. Riady spearheaded the group’s return to the U.S. in 2010 and led the team to the sole acquisition of California’s tallest iconic U.S. Bank Tower in Downtown Los Angeles. The luncheon will provide an opportunity for interested MBA students to meet with Michael in an informal and interactive setting and hear more about his thoughts and experiences on the real estate industry, insights and guidance on the different areas of the industry, and also the importance of global perspectives and experiences in today’s environment. About Michael Riady Chief Advisor to Group Chairman, Overseas Union Enterprise (OUE), a unit of the Lippo Group of Companies Michael Riady joined the Lippo Group, a multi-billion plus Pan Asia diversified conglomerate, in 2004, through PT. Lippo Karawaci, Tbk. as a casual leasing agent in one of the malls. Over a period of time, he worked across various departments and took on more responsibilities. Currently, Riady serves in various positions within the organization, primarily real estate in the United States and Indonesia. He has extensive experience in real estate design and development, operations and corporate finance. Riady is a Director of Lippo Malls, Indonesia’s largest owner with 42 malls and over 25 in the pipeline. He is also the CEO of The St. Moritz, an eleven million square feet US$1.2 billion mixed-use development in Jakarta, Indonesia. Previously, Riady served as the CEO of Lippo Malls Indonesia and Director of Kemang Village, a US$1 billion mixed-use development. He has sold over 1,000 units of condos worth US$300m since 2008 and developed Indonesia’s largest shopping mall comprising 4.5 million square feet among others. Riady was actively involved in a global road show that raised US$250m in equity for the company in 2009. He was consistently ranked as one of the Top Sales CEO performers for the whole company from 2008 to 2012. Riady spearheaded the group’s return to the United States of America in 2010. He currently serves as the Country Managing Partner of Lippo North America, which oversees all the group’s activities in America. He also is the Managing Partner of Lippo Energy, which has direct interests in a Copper and Gold mine operation in Utah. Recently, Riady sourced and led the team to the sole acquisition of California’s tallest iconic US Bank Tower in Bunker Hill, Downtown Los Angeles. He has been a guest speaker on CNBC Cash Flow, at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) World Summit - Shanghai, ICSC Recon - Las Vegas, Asia GRI Singapore, The Real Estate Show Singapore, National University of Singapore Business School Jakarta Forum. He received the Asia Society’s “Young Leaders under 40” award in Malaysia and has appeared in various publications including Investor and Fortune Magazine — Indonesia edition. Riady sits on the Founding Board of UCLA’s Ziman Center of Real Estate since summer 2013. Riady received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and graduated from the UCLA-NUS Executive MBA program with an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management and an MBA from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
