If you missed the CTE Town Hall that was held on February 9, please watch the recording to see information regarding all our CTE career pathways from middle school to high school. The information provided during this session was intended to help parents and students understand the many career pathways available through the Bellevue School District. You may also want to review the CTE Career Pathways book that outlines each career pathway with a 6- year student plan from middle to high school for each career pathway. The book also explains all college credit opportunities and industry recognized certifications that are possible under these career pathways. WANIC Skill Center Virtual Open House Full Year Skill Center classes offered for 2021-22 Tuesday 3/9/2021 5:30-7:00 pm Links to join the virtual meetings will be posted at https://wanic.lwsd.org/about-us/open-house WANIC Skill Center offers high quality tuition-free skill center classes designed for high school juniors and seniors. These year-long, advanced-level programs are based on rigorous academic and industry standards preparing students for career and college readiness. WANIC programs offer dual credit opportunities (high school and college credit) and/or lead to industry certifications. Programs are designed in three period blocks which allows extended learning time and authentic hands-on lab experience. Skill Center classes are offered at many local high schools in our area, DigiPen Institute of Technology and Lake Washington Institute of Technology. Students enrolled in these school districts are eligible to apply Bellevue, Everett, Issaquah, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Northshore, Riverview, and Snoqualmie Valley. All classes are offered during the regular school day, while some are also offered after the school day. Students attend their home high school for part of their day and attend WANIC Skill Center programs in a different location for the remainder of the day. Bellevue School District offers, on our campuses: Culinary Arts and Advanced Culinary Arts at Newport; CISCO Academy CCNA and CISCO CCNP at Newport; Automotive Technology 1 and 2 at Bellevue, Health Science Careers at Sammamish, and NEW this year Building Industry Technology-Core Plus Construction at Interlake High School. Come join the fun! All students can register for these classes! HIGH SCHOOL AND BEYOND PLAN – DON’T FORGET TO GET THIS DONE! The High School and Beyond Plan is a state mandated requirement for all students in Washington. In order to graduate specific activities must be completed prior to graduation. The counseling staff and the College and Career Advisors will or have contacted students regarding these requirements during workshops and class meetings. The activities are primarily self- driven and can be completed at home. Students will log onto Naviance to get access to these activities! Here is the list of activities that should be completed this year for all students grades 9-12: (Seniors must have all items below completed!) Over the course of the school year, the DECA students from Bellevue School District have been busy practicing their skills to compete in various business and marketing competitive events. After qualifying at Area, Regions and State, many students have now qualified for the International Career Development Conference in April. Students have truly showed their resilience and have adapted to the many new formats of instruction and competition this year. PACIFIC NORTHWEST COLLEGE CREDIT – REGISTRATION IN DECEMBER Pacific NW College Credit is simply college credit through a consortium called Pacific NW College. The colleges that are part of our consortium and serve Bellevue School District students are Bellevue College, Cascadia, North Seattle, Shoreline, Clark, Lake Washington Institute of Technology, Renton Technical College, and Edmonds College. These colleges review our curriculum and our state approved frameworks. Once approved by the college program, they issue college credit at a reduced cost. This year the cost is $50.00 for an entire year of classes, as many as you can take from the list below! Students can earn college credit while taking classes at their high school but must maintain a “B” or better grade to qualify. Here is what the list will provide you below: • High School Course Title will be the class the student is currently enrolled in at their high school. • College Providing Credit is the college issuing the credit, you will have to select one if there are multiple colleges providing credit. You cannot earn credit for the same class at multiple locations. • College Course Title is the college course that our class has been articulated to. • Credits Available is the number of credits earned after completing the course with a “B” or better.
