The company opened its first store in Chandler, Ariz. in 2002 with abundant produce and thousands of natural, organic and great-tasting foods at remarkably low prices. The Sprouts story continued with a period of rapid growth through acquisitions and new store development. In 2011, Sprouts joined with Henry’s Holdings, which ran 35 Henry’s Farmers Markets stores and eight Sun Harvest Market stores. A year later, the company bought Sunflower Farmers Market, which ran 37 stores. Sprouts became a public company traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market in August 2013. In 2014, Sprouts expanded into the Southeast by adding new stores in Georgia. Since then, Sprouts has opened stores in three new states: Missouri, Alabama and Tennessee. Amin Maredia Amin Maredia, our chief executive officer, assumed the position in August 2015 and previously served as Sprouts’ chief financial officer from August 2011 to August 2015. He serves on our board of directors. Prior to joining Sprouts, Amin served in key strategic and finance roles for Burger King Corporation, one of the world’s largest fast-food retailers, including vice president of North America and Latin America finance and vice president of strategic planning & treasurer. Before joining Burger King, Amin served as assistant treasurer. Amin also brings significant mergers and acquisitions experience. By emphasizing strategic investment and financial discipline, he has also deftly managed Global Fortune 100 and private equity backed companies through difficult periods and during the economic downturn. Amin began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1994. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a graduate of the Harvard Business School General Management Program and holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from University of Houston. Jim Nielsen Jim Nielsen, our president and chief operating officer, has more than 25 years of experience in the grocery business. Jim joined us as COO in 2011 following our merger with Henry’s, where he served as president for six years. Prior to that, he held various leadership positions at Wild Oats and Smith’s Food and Drug. A native of Utah who got his start in the grocery business as a teenager, Jim has hands-on experience with every facet of grocery operations and brings deep knowledge in natural and organic foods. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Weber State University. 10 Brad Lukow Brad Lukow, our chief financial officer, joined Sprouts in March 2016. In his role, he oversees the company’s finance organization, including investor relations, treasury, controller functions and taxes. Prior to joining Sprouts, Brad served as chief financial officer for 99 Cents Only Stores. He also spent 20 years at Shoppers Drug Mart, most notably serving as executive vice president and chief financial officer for six years. Brad is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has his B.A. in Honors Business Administration from Western University. Daniel Bruni Daniel Bruni has served as our chief information officer since February 2015. Prior to joining Sprouts, Dan held the position of vice president, information technology for Dollar General Corporation. Dan has also served as senior vice president & chief information officer at Harris Teeter, Corp., a regional grocery chain, and as vice president & chief information officer at Brothers Gourmet Coffees. With more than 25 years of information technology experience, Dan has also held leadership positions in manufacturing, financial services and fast food retail in organizations such as General Motors, Dun & Bradstreet and Burger King Corporation. Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in IT Executive Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ted Frumkin Ted Frumkin, our chief development officer, has been in the commercial real estate world for more than 25 years. Prior to joining us in December 2012, Ted served as vice president of real estate for Staples, Inc. for 10 years. Before that, he was vice president of real estate for Rubio’s Restaurants, Inc., and served in various roles for Office Depot, Wal-Mart and Taco Bell. Ted holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas Christian University. 11 Shawn Gensch Shawn Gensch, our chief marketing officer, leads Sprouts’ marketing strategy, creative and production, designed to inspire and engage consumers and showcase the company’s healthy products and great value. Shawn has close to 25 years’ experience in marketing and finance with executive roles in both the retail and financial services industries. Most recently, he served as co-founder and chief executive officer at a start-up consumer loyalty company. Earlier, Gensch served as Target’s senior vice president of marketing, president of Target Bank and led financial product development for the company. Previously, he was president and chief executive officer of Conseco Bank. Brandon Lombardi Brandon Lombardi, our chief legal officer and corporate secretary, joined Sprouts in January 2012 after leading us through our 2011 merger with Henry’s as our outside legal counsel. Prior to joining us, Brandon was at the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig for 10 years, where he served as outside general counsel and secretary to public and private companies in a wide range of industries, including an industry close to our heart: food retail. Brandon graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Global Finance from Arizona State University and magna cum laude with a Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Dan Sanders Dan Sanders joined our team as executive vice president of store operations in June 2015. In his role, Dan oversees store operations of our more than 230 locations in 13 states coast to coast. Prior to joining Sprouts, Dan served as division president for SUPERVALU. He also spent 10 years with United Supermarkets of Texas, serving in various roles, including chief executive officer. Dan is a military veteran and a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author.
