The Bulletin GP Newsletter

August 2019 The Bulletin GP Newsletter CCG awarded ‘Outstanding’ rating for third consecutive year NHS Doncaster CCG has received its official rating from NHS England for 2018-19 and its great news – we’ve been rated ‘outstanding’ for the third time. Doncaster CCG is now one of just nine CCGs nationally to achieve the top rating three years in a row. An area of significant improvement during 2018-19 is our approach to patient and public engagement, ensuring we communicate and engage with patients and members of the public at the right time, right place using effective methods. Since last year’s assessment, we have moved from Amber ‘requires improvement’ to ‘Green Star’. Only two CCGs in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw received the top accolade for patient and public engagement; Doncaster and Barnsley. CCG 2018-19 Annual Report now available Our Annual Report for 2018-19 has been published and is available on our website, together with some short film versions. You can find further details here. Doctors ask local residents to use the Emergency Department wisely this summer Senior doctors in Doncaster are asking local people to choose their health services wisely as the summer holidays get under way. The warmer weather can often bring with it many health risks – from cuts and scrapes in the garden, to not drinking enough water whilst out in the sunshine, summer can be one of the busiest times for the Emergency Department (ED). This summer, the local NHS is asking for the people of Doncaster to think before they travel to hospital. A range of communications and social media activity will be taking place over the next few months – please support and share these messages with your patients – thank you. Supporting Berkshire’s ‘Lift the Baby’ campaign in Doncaster Being a new dad is an amazing experience. But it’s also exhausting. It’s something no-one can prepare you for. And at the end of a long day, there’s nothing more satisfying than to collapse on the sofa. That’s why we are supporting a national campaign to raise awareness of the importance of doing all you can to keep babies and small children safe. More than 130 babies die in the UK every year as a result of unsafe sleeping. Please read the important information on our website and if possible, embed the video on your local GP surgery screens for patients and members of the public to view. South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw ICS NHS Long Term Plan engagement report Following extensive engagement activity across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System (SYB ICS), a summary report is now available, providing a summary of what people said about the future of health and care services across the region. This report aligns with the engagement activity completed earlier this year in the development of Doncaster’s first ever joint health and social care commissioning strategy. 1 Doncaster Talks Mayor Ros Jones has announced the start of a resident engagement campaign, ‘Doncaster Talks’. Doncaster Talks is the method for Doncaster council and its partners in Team Doncaster, which Doncaster CCG fully supports, to speak to local people about the issues that matter to them now and looking to the future. It will involve a series of roadshow events across the borough, as well as an online questionnaire where people can give their opinions. Local people will be asked simple questions about their feelings on where they live, what they’d like to see happen in Doncaster, and their hopes for the future. The feedback will be used to refresh the Doncaster Growing Together borough strategy, which will develop the borough over the next ten years. Read the full story here. A positive outlook for children with Special Educational Needs and Disability in Doncaster Local leaders in Doncaster are committed to improving the life chances of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
