ACTIVITIES OF BHOOMITHRASENA CLUB 2019-2020 Environment Day celebration • Intercollegiate poster competition Organized an intercollegiate poster competition on “Beat Air Pollution” on 24-6-2019. About 28 students from various colleges participated in the competition. Prize winners were: I prize: Archana T.S., St.Mary’s College, Thrissur II prize: Divyamol Geever, II M.Sc. Botany. St.Mary’s College, Thrissur and Kripasree , Carmel College, Mala III Prize: Jasmine Sidhu M.S., Vimala College, Thrissur • Poster Exhibition Conducted an Poster exhibition on Air Pollution on 26-6-2019. • Film screening A documentary film on ‘Air Pollution” was screened on for the club members on 20-06- 2019 • Vegetable gardening To encourage the organic farming, the club members started vegetable cultivation in the campus on 02-07-2019 Initiatives by the Club to develop a plastic free campus • Workshop on the making of paper pen Senior Club members conducted a workshop on the making of paper pen for the newly entered club members on 25-09-2019. • Workshop on the making of paper files A workshop on the making of paper files by senior members of the Club for the newly entered members was conducted on 26-09-2019. • Banning of plastic files in the Botany Dept As an initiative to develop a plastic free campus, BMC has banned the submission of record sheets by the students admitted in the academic year 2019-20 onwards. • Visit to Oushadhi Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Club members were taken to Oushadhi, The Pharmaceutical Corporation (IM) Kerala limited, a fully Kerala Government owned Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturing Unit on 16th Dec. 2019. They were given an awareness on our indigeneous medicinal practice ie Ayurveda, various medicinal plants, drug quality screening techniques etc. • Awareness programme on Plastic waste management to Public The FIC of Bhoomithrasena Club Dr.Rekha K, has delivered an awareness talk to the housewives at Ollur, on effective plastic waste management and the health problems that can be generated due to careless plastic waste disposal on 8th January 2020. .
