Just as with his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, ELLIS JACOB, PAT MARSHALL, Burton cast Johnny Depp as his ingénue’s odd mentor and made the setting more ominous, as if the DAN MCGRATH, SUSAN REGINELLI very environment is about to swallow up our young protagonist.
