POLAND ON THE PODIUM. German team won the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup team competition at Wielka Krokiew Hill in Zakopane. Karl Geiger, Markus Eisenbichler, David Siegel and Stephan Leyhe were ahead of the Austrian team only by 0.1 point. Polish ski jumpers stood on the third step of the podium. The rivalry on Saturday was on a very high level – seven teams managed to gain more than one thousand points. If only Johan Andre Forfang hadn’t been disqualified also the Norwegians could end the competition with such a note. Two ski jumpers broke the hill size record – firstly, Markus Eisenbichler with a jump of 143 meters and then, Dawid Kubacki jumped 0.5 longer than the German athlete. Before, Kamil Stoch was the record holder. FIS SKI JUMPING WORLD CUP ZAKOPANE 20/01/2019 INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION KRAFT BEST IN ZAKOPANE Stefan Kraft from Austria won the individual competition of FIS Ski Jumping World Cup held at Wielka Krokiew Hill in Zakopane. Second place belonged to Robert Johansson whose shape is getting better. On the third step of the podium stood Yukiya Sato from Japan for whom it was the best place in his career. Dawid Kubacki, who was 12th, was the best of Polish ski jumpers. Johann Andre Forfang, disqualified on Saturday, was 4th. His jump in the final round was the best – he jumped 137 meters, so he changed his position from 19th to 4th. Also second jump of Ryoyu Kobayashi permitted him to end the competition in top10. What’s more, happy of their performances can also be Halvor Egner Granerud from Norway (5th place), Daniel Huber of Austria (6th place). German Stephan Leyhe and Timi Zajc from Slovenia occupied ex aequo with younger Kobayashi brother 7th position. Józefa Stolarczyka street Stanisława Witkiewicza street WORTH TO SEE IN ZAKOPANE Krupowki street - the most popular street in Zakopane. Extremely picturesque place buzzes from morning to evening. Over a kilometer along the promenade there are many regional restaurants, shops, and local attractions. Cable car to Kasprowy Wierch – this peak provides incredibly beautiful views, which spreads around, but also the unfogettable ride up the hill by cable car, which lasts 12 minutes. Gubalowka - one of the most visited places in Zakopane. You can get on by special train. After a few minutes of entering restaurants, pavement cafés and stalls with regional products are avaiable for visitors Museum Villa Koliba - Zakopane Style Museum, (the first house built in the Zakopane style, designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz. It is located at Kościeliska Street, the oldest street of Zakopane) Tatra Museum - a museum which has the largest number of exhibits and educational issues Cemetery on „Peksowym Brzyzku” - the first Zakopane cemetery registered as a monument. It is located at Kościeliska street. It is one of the most important Polish necropolis, where can be found dozens of graves of prominent people.
