Text Messages – Mayor Simon Murray to Barnaby Joyce MP 2019-2020 - Text Messages – Mayor Simon Murray to Barnaby Joyce MP *Barnaby’s phone number changed during 2019-2020. 1 2019 Morning Barnaby Sender: Simon Murray Recipient: Barnaby Joyce MP Just wanted to touch base regarding Kempsey Road and a road trip. Can do this Friday or sometime next week. Please let me know. 2 2020 Evening Barnaby Sender: Simon Murray Recipient: Barnaby Joyce MP Not sure if you are aware, Qantas is planning to pause flights to Armidale from 10 April, ARC is doing a press release tomorrow announcing the proposed flight changes and also requesting support from our local Members to keep flights to Armidale. I hope you can support our call as these flights are for the wider region, not just Armidale. Will try to give you a call tomorrow Barnaby. 3 2020 Afternoon Barnaby Sender: Simon Murray Recipient: Barnaby Joyce MP Just wondering if you are aware of what Qantas is doing re flights to Armidale? We are hearing mixed messages, one that there will be no more flights from the 10th until some time in the future. On the other hand, Adam Marshall advised Qantas is not pulling out of flights to Armidale. I have a contact in Qantas and they indicated that management is discussing options. Any help will be appreciated. Regards Simon 2019-2020 - Text Messages – Mayor Simon Murray to Adam Marshall MP 1 2019 Morning Minister Sender: Simon Murray Recipient: Adam Marshall MP Just wanted to touch base on 2 matters. First a week ago or so we were talking about getting someone to talk to our Councillors and you mentioned you would see if Glenn Inglis would be able to do a Workshop. Any outcomes? Secondly, have you heard anything about the rail viaduct being lifted? Just reading the email from Ali Attachment 1 Page 5 Attachment 1 2019-2020 - Text Messages – Mayor Simon Murray to Barnaby Joyce MP Cairns. Cheers 2 2019 Adam just had a member of the public indicate the Sender: Simon Murray Old Courthouse is getting knocked around a bit and Recipient: Adam Marshall MP looking tatty. Is there some organization that has responsibility for its maintenance? 3 2019 Morning Adam Sender: Simon Murray Recipient: Adam Marshall MP Thought I had better outline what I need to talk to you about. Guyra is fast running out of water, expected to be out by the end of July, early August. The pipeline is going ahead of time, expected to be finished construction early August as well. It will need a period of time for testing. Problem for ARC is Costa’s has cut production in the old Glasshouse but we may have to shut down the whole Glasshouse soon if we cannot provide some alternative water. Pretty big job losses. Alternatives are: 1) Truck water from the Armidale treatment plant to the Guyra reservoir about ML/day 2) Truck water from the Armidale WTP to Costa and let the Guyra WTP look after Guyra. About 0.5ML/day. My recommendation is to commence trucking water in Option 2 starting immediately. This will extend the life of the Guyra reservoir as we don’t know if there will be problems with the commissioning of the pipeline and need a buffer. Question – is funding available for trucking water and if so, how quickly can we access it and who can we work through? Thanks Adam 4 2020 Good afternoon Adam Sender: Simon Murray Recipient: Adam Marshall MP Just have a couple of points to raise. 1) While you made the funding announcement back in February, we have not received any Deeds from Treasury. Meanwhile we are expensing funds in preparation for the work to commence. Could you please chase up why the delay has occurred? 2) Is there any time horizon for the funding and reclassification for the Kempsey Road? Attachment 1 Page 6 Attachment 1 2019-2020 - Text Messages – Mayor Simon Murray to Barnaby Joyce MP 5 2020 Morning Adam Sender: Simon Murray Recipient: Adam Marshall MP Have you heard anything about the funding for the trucking of water to Guyra? 6 2020 Afternoon Adam Sender: Simon Murray Recipient: Adam Marshall MP I texted Melinda this morning about the confirmation of the trucking of water as we still have heard nothing from her office. James met with us on Tuesday and said we would have confirmation first thing the following morning! Anything you can do to hasten the process? Thanks 7 2020 Adam this is just a confirmation of our short Sender: Simon Murray discussion earlier. Could you please check up on: Recipient: Adam Marshall MP 1) Signed letter confirming funding for water transportation 2) I believe
