Edinburgh and Glasgow. “We’re looking forward to be able to use the HESA data to show off who we are to prospective students. The HESA data is crucial to the TEF1 , NSS2 and DLHE3 – it seems like a sensible idea to get this right before these become mandatory returns for us.” MIKE ROWELL, ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATOR Higher Education Statistics Agency Limited (HESA) is a company limited by guarantee, registered in England at 95 Promenade, Cheltenham, GL50 1HZ. Developing competitive advantage Ballet West realised the benefits of inclusion in these national surveys, to support the school’s planning and marketing strategies. In the first year, the school identified some gaps in its data collection which led to updating its enrolment processes. The management team is also mindful of the possibility that the TEF rating could be linked to course fees and is now confident that the school is data-ready should this happen. The process has led Ballet West to see other future benefits of the investment in data collection. The school anticipates being able to better analyse from where their students originate – which will be important when presenting evidence to the Scottish government and comparing the funding status of Scottish and English students.
